yes,i had a root canal done a month ago.

the day beore the procedure i could not sleep because i was terrified of the pain to come.
i was practically weeping by the time i got to the dentist cos i expected the pain to be very bad.
but srangely enough once i had been given a local anesthetic,i did not feel a thing.it is quite a long procedure mine took over an hour, but it was totally painless.i can actually say that i would do another one without any fear and i am a terrible wimp when it comes to pain.
once the anesthetic had worn off i did not feel any pain but i think that would be a personal experience thing because some people feel some throbbing afterwards.i did not.
wish you luck,do go for it it is as it is worth while as you get to save your tooth.

Don't want to put you off going ,but yes i had one done four years ago and honestly yes it did hurt for four or five days.I'm actually going to have one done again today but this time i am going to be sedated as i personally was quite traumatised afterwards. If you are like me ask your dentist to refer you to a sedation clinic. They wont do it at your regular dentist usually. But the service is there for nervous patients if you ask.I had sedation when i had an impacted wisdom tooth removed. Its marvellous. You are quite aware of what is going on around you but don't give a damn. You are still given a local anaesthetic and unfortunately you will still have pain once this has worn off so keep a few pain killers to hand. But the procedure is made much more bearable with sedation.Wish you well Ps I was told that it will cost me £47 for treatment and sedation well worth it!

lay your fear aside. Today's dental procedures are pain free. Certainly it can be a little uncomfortable while the work is being done in your mouth, pain will not be one of them . After the dental procedure you will be given some pain medicine, and that should keep you pain free. There may be some inconvenience of having to consume liquids or soft food, and after a few days you will wonder why you have worried about it. I say a prayer before I go.

I had it and I was terrified before hand.

However, didn't feel a thing once they'd done the injection. A bit uncomfortable at times and felt funny afterwards, but really it was fine. And believe me I am the least brave person ever so for me to say that should be a huge comfort.

a root canal really doesn't hurt anymore than having a regular cavity filled....however, it may take a little bit longer...they drill and clean out the root(S) then a temporary cap is put on the tooth, then a week later you go back to the dentist to make sure the nerve is dead...then they whittle down your tooth and put on your better (gold, porcelain) cap on it.

all done...

Root canal shouldnt hurt, You'll be numb. You find you ache a bit afterwards but it shouldnt be anything a neurofen can't cure.

Doesnt hurt too bad because you will have an injection first to numb it.
And the dentist will give you painkillers for after, It only hurts for a couple of hours.

while it was being done I felt no pain due to anashetic . They usually give you penicillian if you have an infection and tell you to take pain killers. It felt bit uncomfortable for few days but really was nothing
