Great decision your parents dont have a right to stop you

To be a real Buddhist is a once in a million years oppertunity

Buddhist believe in Karma & Reincarnation (Cause & Effect)
Our next life is determined from the things we do in this life (Good, Bad)
We try to find the ultimate freedom by purifying our mind from any bad thoughts....and by gaining ultimate wisdom...and achieve Nirvana
We achieve this by Meditation
Our religion never shed blood in the name of religion
We believe every living things has the same right to live and our religion is opposed to killing of any living being (Animals, insects)
We don’t believe that god can bring us happiness or ultimate wisdom...........it’s our mind which can achieve anything....so we don’t worship GOD
We believe there is heavens and many other worlds in the universe
they don’t have any power on us they are worlds like us but only higher than us
When we die we go there according to our Karma. Nirvana is a state of mind, Its not heaven, we believe its better than heaven. Its ultimate bliss of mind

The next life is decided by the energy (Karma)....created by our mind. Nobody judges It, if we have good karma...good worlds….. bad karma...we go to bad worlds...its like water flowing down....its the way of the universe

Examine what your getting into very carefully. Buddhism is a religion that came from a specific culture.

I would suggest you consider staying in your tradition and practice the techniques of Buddhist meditation. Life is much easier that way. If you are a cultural Christian and the people you interact with will be Christian then be a good Christian by being aware and helpful to those around you as Christ suggested. You really can't go wrong giving yourself over to the service of others as Christ did. Read St. Francis and St. Teresa of Avila. Not all Christian traditions have the same focus and most "real" traditions don't resemble today's evangelical movement.

NOTE: Are you seeking truth or rejecting Christianity? The answer to that question is very important. I found that I cannot maintain a commitment on fear or anger, but I can on love and truth.

What does Buddhism give you that your parents' religion doesn't? Look carefully here. You can keep working in this way--each time you see a new part of what you want, ask yourself "and what would this give me that I don't already have?"
This technique is called "self inquiry" and is used by some Buddhists, and in other traditions, too.
You may be able to find what you want in a Christian setting--if you want to convert because you want to practice meditation, consider contacting a Trappist monastery or some other place where Christians use meditation as a spiritual practice.
As many others have pointed out already, you don't have to convert from Christianity in order to practice Buddhism. If meditation or other Buddhist practices upset your parents, you can get up early to sit for meditation before anyone else is awake.
Keep taking the time to be quiet and feel what you really want. And if it's available in your area, start looking for a teacher. Be very skillful here--there are a lot of people calling themselves teachers who abuse their power in atrocious ways. Don't be afraid to look very critically at teachers--a true teacher will welcome that. A spiritual teacher can be really helpful, though, so you might want to keep looking!

You are probably thinking this way because your particular pexperience has been disappointing. Spend some time studying what you think you want (Buddhism), but also time visiting other churches to see if they have what your own church lacks. Most of all, get the Bible out and see what Christianity really is supposed to be like. Read the New Testament and compare how your church, and other churches line up with the Bible. Sometimes Christianity seems to fail, because the leaders fail to follow the Bible correctly.

Remain a Christian but adhere to the moral precepts set out by Buddhism. Buddhism demands nothing of its adherents-it isn't a set of religious doctrines that need to be rigorously adhered to. It is a way of living-a path to inner peace and eternal bliss-and a Buddhist is only someone who lives, thinks and speaks in a way which is respectful and causes no harm to others. Be a Christian and worship in church if you want but be a Buddhist in how you live your life. Buddha never taught that belief in a God was wrong he only taught that it wasn't the first priority for anyone seeking enlightenment.

Wait until you move out on your own. You don't have to convert to practice Buddhism. Read the teachings of Buddha and apply them to your life. Buddha isn't a god. You don't have to pray to Him or anything. His teachings are easy enough that they can supplement any other religion without complication. You might have to take up meditation though.

I was brought up a Christian and wanted to become a Muslim. My parents weren't exactly supportive but you know what? I did it anyway. there's no use you stay in a religion you don't believe in. You not changing for your parents sake. I say that if you truly believe in Buddhism, go for it!
