Apply for citizenship.

You are eligable because you have spend 30 years in this country. Depending on where you come from you might also be able to keep the passport from your country of origin and have dual nationality status.

Good luck!

You need to register your British Citizenship for a birth certificate (depends if a country allow or don't allow dual nationality. I'm a foreigner born in the UK I never own a British Passport I only have a Maltese passport, Maltese birth certificate & Malta national ID Card. I did got immigrated to the UK couple of times but if UK leaves the European Union then I might have to get indefinite stamp.

Apply for citizenship you will have a strong case because you have been here for so long and the fact that you are settled here with connections. You have been contributing to the economy even if you haven't worked all the time because you have been bringing up children. Do it for yourself so that you can see your grandchildren grow up, if you don't have any now you may in the near future.

I think its best to apply for citizenship. The hassle is not worth it. I understand y u would want to retain the passport of ur country of birth but maybe u should have both passports to avoid any problems.

You are eligible for British citizenship, so apply for it. If you have problems doing this, seek legal advice.

My answer would be a question.

Why have'nt you applied for citizenship prior to this?

I would need to know much more before I could comment.
