Nearly every woman i know refers to me as a harmless guy - is this good or is it a bit of a put down i.e. cudnt hurt a fly kinda guy.

no it's not a putdown it means that your a good guy....someone who won't harm anyone...someone with respect....you should be proud of yourself...good for you

Well it is good. It is better than being refered to as a wolf in sheeps clothing. A wife beater. A dr jeckel and mr hyde. Sadistic. Sadomasikistic.
Just one of the girls. If they call you a bad name like that or just one of the girls then worry, but harmless is good. If they call you one of the girls it is gay.
I would not be bothered by that. It is kind of a stupid thing to say, but it is not bad. I would just ask them if they could think of something nicer to say about you. That is kind of stupid. You are safe, but harmless is not the most postive way to say it.
Harmless is not a word friends usually use about eachother. It is usually a word you use about some excentric person in the neighbor hood or community to say they are odd or strange, but would not rape or kill anyone. It is not a good word for someone that is a friend or someone people know well.

No Id take it as a compliment - it seems to mean that you're a nice decent kinda lad that wouldnt be malicious or out to hurt women - yes it can also be interpreted as being boring an unpredictable - but I think Id prefer the good you which wouldnt hurt a fly!!

evry girl u knw says ur harmless..they mean u cant take advantage of any girl,exploit her, or even use her.u wont cause any havoc in her life.u can keep secrets,u can advice ppl and definatly be tonnes of help..ur the guy girls can talk to and arnt afraid of the fact that ull spread the word! in short a trustworthy guy! where in the world do i find u???

maybe they think you are gay. or maybe the kind of guy that is just "friends" harmless in your case would not be good. means the woman doesn't see you in a sexual way at all

it is good from my point of view...i have had 2 abusive husbands and a guy that is harmless i would not have to be afraid of being around....i think it is good to be harmless and you will not intentionally hurt someone...
