Either way. Just make sure you do 200 minutes of cardio a week. Remember fat does not turn into muscle, so you need to lose your fat while putting on muscle. Work hard, but don't over 60 minutes at a time. Do planks and other abs exercises on alternate days.
On training days, do 5-10 minutes of cardio to warm up, then do your weight training. Do 30 to 60 minutes more of cardio, then go home.
The best time to eat is just after your workout within an hour when your metabolism is raging. For your muscles, incorporate some isolated soy protein or whey protein. Whey is more potent but the soy tastes better!
Don't look at your scale as the be all and end all, but get a measuring tape to check your progress, and that will show more tangible results.
Read magazines like Shape, Womens Fitness, Fitness, etc to get tips and to stay motivated.
Good luck and stick at it. This plan has lost me 20 lbs in 12 weeks so far, just go for it!

You can lose weight doing both, it really depends on how much you use it or how far you walk which will decide on how much weight you'll lose.
Treadmills are great for variety as you can change the speed and gradient and set yourself little programs. You can work on them in the comfort of your own home or a gym although they can be pretty boring as the scenery isn't as good.
Walking outdoors is great because of the scenery and the fresh air you'll get. The downside is the weather and also walking on your own depending on time of day can be dangerous.
I would try walking the neighbourhood first (cheaper) if that's not for you then hop on the treadmill baby.

You will find that you will walk the neighborhood, and just will wind up hanging clothes on your treadmill. I never use my treadmill, but I would love to walk, but I am too busy, it will make a big difference.

I love my treadmill and don't ever regret getting it. I have had it for 6 years now. The great thing about treadmills is that you can raise the incline, speed it up, slow it down and really give yourself variations in walking that you can't outside unless you just happened to live next to mountains or steps.
We ordered our Pro Form 850 pi from Pro form. I don't even know if they still make that model anymore, but I love mine.
It goes up to 10mph if you want to run on it. Another thing to consider is the impact your joints, especially your knees, will get if you walk or run on concrete. Constant pounding can really hurt. Also, rain or shine, cold or hot, you can work out on your treadmill. It eliminates the excuse of bad weather.
http://www.proform.com They have a great website and apparently free shipping so sayeth thier treadmill page.

Hi,
you can loose weight if you follow 2 simple steps:
1. Workout
2. Eat only right meals.
Your question is related to point 1. You can loose weight with treadmill. But you can loose weight faster if you workout every muscle in your body with combination with treadmill. Try to do strength trainig 2 days per week plus 2 days treadmill.
Eating is another 50% from your goal to loose weight. Try to do following:
Eat 5-6 times per day - small meals, it means to eat every 2-3 hours. Avoid sweet food, food made from dough, hambyrgers. Eat plenty of salads (no dressing) and backed meat or fish. Eat fresh nuts.
If you combine treadmill with diet plan this will fasten process of weight loss.

I have a treadmill, I just had to have it. I never use it. I was getting up really early to go walk near our house at a walking track and some people walked out of the woods and got in behind me. I never went back.

I like treadmills, not only can you use it year round but you can vary the speed and incline for your workout, and if your going to do more than just walk you can do High Intensity Interval Training cardio training. The ultimate in fat burning cardio.
Good Luk.
