This comes with 3 different encoders so give each one a try and see if it makes any differance to your encoding but like the first answer already said, you're talking shaving a few seconds off here and there - nothing major. Just be glad CPU speeds have increased exponentially over the last few years first DVD's I ripped used to take 8 hours per stream (audio and video together = 16hours!)
