You don't & you won't see a Muslim making fun of Jesus, Moses, Buddha or the Hindu gods & goddesses here. We won't stoop to yr level.

I agree, there r so-called "Muslim" terrorists commiting terrible things in the name of Islam & trust me, even us Muslims r mad & very ashamed of them for all the bad things they've done but I stand by my religion because I know that their evil acts r NOT ISLAMIC but actually POLITICAL. They say they r doing these things for God but we all know they r hiding something.

Your insults may wound us for a few minutes, but after a while we'll forget all about them as we continue to live our lives as Muslims.

Surah 109. Al Kafirun from the Quran:
Say:"O you people who reject faith! I do not worship what you worship, Nor will you worship what I worship, And I will not worship what you have been used to worship. To you be your religion, and to me my religion.

Quran teaches us many beautiful things, but it is up to us to carry them out the right way

I just wanted to rephrase my question.
Why are SOME ppl so disrespectful towards Islam on Yahoo Answers?

Because I know there are people out there who have the decency to respond to questions nicely even if they disagree with the asker.

Plus, I'm not insulting any religion by bringing up this issue. Not at all. I'm just questioning people in general and all I want is for everyone to realize that the Muslims you see in the media do not always equal to the Muslims you meet in everyday life. "Muslim" terrorists have other agendas on their minds.. don't forget that.

Hindus... I haven't read on the history of Hindu rulers but I have read about and seen documentaries on Hindus in India who abuse their wives (throwing acid in their faces, body then divorcing them after they have become deformed etc.). You see, terrorism (abuse would come under terrorism for me) exists in any culture, country, race, etc.

Thanks for all your responses! Keep 'em coming.

People are disrespectful of what they don't understand. They can't be bothered to get to know the real people behind Islam or any religion and they only go with what the media say and they make up their own minds that way.

I am far from disrepectfull of the muslim faith. I think it should be taught in our schools so people could judge for themselves. I myself do not believe in religion, this does not mean I do not believe in a god, just the religions. If more people were to read the Quran they would soon come to realise that the phrase Muslim Extremist is a contradiction in terms, the muslim faith is one of the least violent and most charitable of all the faiths, unlike Catholic/Protestant christians who have a history of tortue, holy wars and segregation (even among its own faith). But hose people who say its because of the terrorists should remember, not that far back, when we suffered terroist activities from Ireland, did we mistrust or verbally abuse all Irish, the unfortunate answer is probably, yes. The Muslim faith is a gentle one which unusually for a religion promotes education, which most religions would prefer faith to knowledge and a great respect for the elders.
I would suggest to anybody that they read the Quran or any other religious script before they judge others solely on thier faith.

Media maligns Islam

Islam is without doubt the best religion but the media is in the hands of the westerners who are afraid of Islam. The media is continuously broadcasting and printing information against Islam. They either provide misinformation about Islam, misquote Islam or project a point out of proportion, if any.

When any bomb blasts take place anywhere, the first people to be accused without proof are invariably the Muslims. This appears as headlines in the news. Later, when they find that non-Muslims were responsible, it appears as an insignificant news’ item.

If a 50 year old Muslim marries a 15 year old girl after taking her permission, it appears on the front page but when a 50 year old non-Muslim rapes a 6 year old girl, it may appear in the news in the inside pages as ‘Newsbriefs’. Everyday in America on an average 2,713 cases of rape take place but it doesn’t appear in the news, since it has become a way of life for the Americans.

Personally I think that the reason Yahoo! Answers seems so offensive to Muslims is not necessarily because there are more people being offensive to Muslims. The fact is that Yahoo! Answers doesn't remove anti-Islamic material when it is complained about. Believe me, I've complained on a number of occassions about people saying all Muslims are terrorists, and that guy who said Arabs were descended from Satan, but the only things that get removed are when you are anti-Christian or anti-American. Unfortunately the people who run Yahoo! Answers seem to think that an advert for a Jesus action figure is more offensive than out-right hatred towards an entire religion or nationality!

Hi Marwada,

I you look at the consistency of the people that ask these questions and there answers you will see there mentality they are low achievers jealous of Muslim achievements in western countries take NICK L who has answered your question that guy berates Muslims all the time and has to open new ids this guy could never openly have a debate with Muslims he would piss himself.

I don't give these people a second thought they insult Islam because they have pathetic lives and have no real belief in there own faiths.

I think that many make fun of that which they don't believe. You must realize that 1) The VAST majority of terrorist attacks in the last 20 years have been perpetrated by Muslim men (or at least men CLAIMING to be Muslim) 2) The reaction from Muslims protesting the Pope's quotation, or the Danish Cartoons about Muhammad have been MUCH MUCH MUCH louder than any Muslim condemning these acts of cowardice and violence. 3) Fundamentalists are dangerous no matter what god they pray to!
The religion (Islam) is one of peace, but it has been hijacked by violent extremists. If you want people to see that not all Muslims are violent, show them by your vocal disagreement with those who besmirch your faith.

PEACE, SHALOM, SALAAM ALAIKUM

That's a tricky one. There are probably a large number of reasons however, the first issue is the fact that fundamentalist or not, many moslems seem to think that their religion is the only correct one and should be pushed onto everybody else. In the West, we subscribe to several religions, each of which claims to be the only correct one and "the ONLY way". The problem starts possibly because islam has retained a strong middle eastern flavour which many people here regard as 3rd world. Why would they want to adopt a 3rd world religion? 2. It's obtrusive - for example, an eastern temple in the precinct of Regent's Park. It's ugly and out of place and therefore annoys people. 3. Pelpe see islam as a basically fundamentalist religion. Most of us don't believe that everything is dictated to the last degree by some supernormal deity. we accept a philosophy of free-will - basically incompatible with islam.
In addition, islamists won't allow anybody to criticise or debate the fundamentals of their religion. It's often seen here that anyone questioning anything about the religion getas an immediate response of "you don't understand islam, please read blah, blah, blah!". Are they truly so arrogant as to assume that no westerner studies their religion, especially as there's an interest in spotting where mohommed plagiarised material from the torah and other religioous woks of an earlier era. If so, they have to accept that we will disagree with them and reject their religion as totally wrong, if not irrational. It's not that people hate them, it's that they hate the religious teachings. I wonder whether they would study our religions - Judaism, Christianity and the more modern and occult teachings such as the numerous druid and pagan based religions, all of which have an equal claim to be correct. (Just wait - somebody will now insist that Jesus is the only way, simply because they believe that he himself claimed it. Again, from the position of a different religion, the same ridiculous fundamentalism - JC never actually said it, the words were put into his mouth long after his death. As a god fearing Jew, he couldn't make such a claim. He did claim to be a messiah but that was a worldly leader who would free the people from the rule of Rome.)

so, as long as there are more than one religion, there will be warfare based on a simple philosophy of "my God's better than your God" - happily ignoring the fact that it's extremely unlikely that any god(ess) exists at all. At least, there's no evidence whatsoever for God's existence so why believe in him/her/it?

Mawarda, you have made a number of excellent points. Do not misunderstand me, I am not Muslim, and I am not saying that anyone should be. I am saying that we should not hate or make fun of what another person believes in. We should not hate anyone because of what we see going on in their country of origin or because of what someone of their nationality has done. It is because we do, that we have Jew haters and Moslem haters, Catholic haters and the list goes on and on, extending to everybody breathing and everyone who no longer does. It is just as true that most of what is going on in world news is indeed politically motivated. I must qualify though there is also alot going on that is "religiously" motivated. With that comes the label that a person is a good person or a bad person because of what they believe. I wish everyone would simply tell what they believe and listen to everyone else tell what their convictions are and leave it at that, but most people will not. I suppose it is because everybody cannot be right but alot insist they are and try to force others to agree and believe as they do.
Your point is clearly taken that not even everybody in the same religion, much less, the same country agrees with all their associates do. While we do all (all as in everyone) need to realize and acknowledge that, you have to realize also that there have been those things that people in your country of nativity and your religion have done recently which have devastated to the utmost meaning of the word, countless people and lives which will put suspicion and hatred in your path because of something called guilt by association. It is not fair that the innocent as well as the guilty become targeted but it is life. Life is not fair, It should be, but if it were it would be paradise. At least take solice in the fact that not everyone does the things you have complained about and very sadly, you are entirely correct that you will know the insults for only a small space and move on. I said very sadly because when
you and the groups you are part of are no longer targets of ill will that will only be because someone else is. I am so sorry too that some of the people in my groups, that would be Americans and Christians have poked fun and slung insults. I also wish that you would have said you are sorry for the deeds people in your groups did, perhaps you meant to. Anyway, How nice it would be if we would just ALL respect one another. I do so solidly agree with you on that.

We are cause you name always the koran or mohamed as you are very special, and you are not and particulry the life of Mohammed is really disgusting, to finally married a girl of 6 when in his 50, really i don;'t have an idea how this bussines man could be called prophet after being himself so full of blood but...

The problem is not even that... the problem is that you have your countries full of mass murders, specially women and children is your delight and came to our countries no with the desire of a nice future and work but to spread your mess and the reasons of your very heavy under developing among us.

Why you are not complaining about the 2 million people, muslim people pushed to death bu other muslim people in sudan, why you are not argumenting and protesting, complaining badly that beast can put bombs in a market full of women and children before Ramadan, why you are not complaining that Iran doesn't have had money to help Libano building houses or hospitals but had had 600 million dollars for giving armament to Hezbolah, why you are not complaining that Iran is helping Talibans whom are recognizesd at some of the blackest sects of the world... and then you will realize that yes, bad things happens in our world but THIS IS THE MUSLIM WORLD, and I DON'T LIKE IT, and i don't like muslims that look away and ask then WHY PEOPLE DOESNT LIKE MUSLIMS???, because they behave like nobody in 21 century and the other hald of muslims look away and make the innocent.

I agree with you, even though I'm an agnostic, Islam is a peaceful religion. Where us whiteys become worried, is when we watch the news and see screaming bearded fanatics burning flags, burning effigies of religious and political leaders and firing guns into the air. This is scary stuff. You don't, as an example only, see the Israelis doing the same things when a bearded suicide bomber blows up a bus full of innocents, so we consider them to be more 'civilized' or 'like us'. I agree that tv will always present the most dramatic images, but why is it always muslims who are depicted as the crazies, you must ask yourself. Even at funerals they all seem to be mad. Why don't some of the Islamic scholars/leaders stand up and decry the acts of your fanatical segments, instead of keeping quiet. If a westerner commits an act of terrorism, no stone is left unturned until he is caught, tried and sentenced. Why don't the Arab nations do more to weed out these cretins who are really destroying any hope you may have for understanding throughout the Christian world.

Perhaps the reason is that most Americans and Europeans learn about Islam from people like Bush, Blair, the pope and "popular" media.

It is the fault of the Muslims that they to not tell others about their faith. The non-muslims (Kafirs) are not entirely to blame for not making the effort to see past the myths.
