Why are all you freaking rabbits so concerned with what the rest of us eat that you feel it necessary to post manipulated "studies"? If you are happy eating tree bark great, but don't try pushing your fruity lifestyle off on everyone else.

What a nonsense!
Hitler was a vegetarian so what does that say?
The thing that really annoys me about vegans is that they preach about how animals are sentient beings like us but they have a repressed hatred for their own kind.
Here is how a typical scene would go...
Vernon the vegan is walking down the road and witnesses a road traffic accident involving a number of people. Two of the people are already dead and the other is screaming to be rescued. Vernon pauses a while to reflect on the divine justice that is being visited on these people. He feels very little compassion for the people and finally decides to call and ambulance after reflecting on the damage that cars cause to animals.
Scene two: Vernon is walking down the road a year later and sees a cat being run over by a truck. He jumps into the road almost risking his own life causing another car to swerve and plow into a tree. He picks the dead animal up in his arms and wails at the inhumanity and cruelty of life. Years later he is cursing all car drivers for causing the death of an innocent animal...

The fact is the average veggie IQ is higher than the average non-veg, but that proves nothing whatsoever. The fact is the less intelligent people around, the ones who hang on street corners smoking and drinking, for instance, are never going to look at a steak and consider ethics or health. Nor I think should they, but that's another issue entirely. The only people who consider that are usually the more intelligent.
Rather than a veggie diet affecting IQ, IQ affects the causes that lead to vegetarianism. This argument makes much more sense when you consider most veggies are converts.

There are a lot of factors that can result to high IQ. Though its is said that eating the right food would help in brain developement i don't agree that meat lovers have lower IQ than Vegetarians. The clinical study you refer at is not a sound basis.

It seems that if you want the best IQ then 2 secrets may be to be a vegetarian and go to public school.
In The BBC's Test the Nation programme testing for IQ it was the vegetarians that won followed by the ex public school boys.
London Nutritionist Yvonne Bishop-Weston from Foods For Life says "This Vegetarian win supports advice that a diet richer in fruit and vegetables, nuts and seeds is better for sustainable healthy brain function"
Just as well the Vegetarians won - they were up against the butchers, estate agents and footballers wives - if they'd have lost against any of them it would have been a bit of a PR disaster for The Vegetarian Society who fielded 4 staff members amongst the 30 strong team. Wow by some of the flesh eaters answers, really does show great ignorance on their part lol...

Bit of stupid point to make and I think anyone who repeats it or takes joy in reading it probably has a low IQ...
But I think that's probably for two reasons, 1, the majority of society eat meat. The majority of society do not have a high IQ.
2, (kind of related) The majority of people don't care enough, for whatever reason..or aren't informed enough about things that might influence their decision to change their eating habits in such a way.
It's a bit obvious (though certainly not the rule) that intelligent people make more active decisions such as staying away from meat and having scruples and choosing not to smoke etc.
Please note it's definitely not the rule. Just something general I wanted to point out. But i'm sure some meat eaters will get pissed and think I meant they're less intelligent. Oh well. Some thumbs down for me.. For the record I eat meat if anyone thinks that has influenced my answer.

That doesn't mean that eating meat makes your IQ lower. And I highly doubt it is 'much lower'. Sounds like a correlational study where they found a slightly correlation. Correlation =/= causation.
Increased intake of omega fatty acids by mothers and babies increases intelligence.
Omegas are primarily found in fish and a womans breast milk.
Evolutionary research also points to a high intake of fish having a direct link with the increase in brain size between chimps and men.
Obviously that meat can't be too bad for you after all it's it's responsible for your brain being 3 times bigger than a chimps ;)

That's amazing! Considering the apparent leap in our intelligence was due to us eating meat and receiving vital proteins required to enhance our mental growth, but what would I know I'm a meat eater.
Statistically, people who rely on statistics have a lower IQ. Ask any statistician, they'll prove it.

Maybe we should consider that correlation does not equal causation. There are plenty of other factors to consider in this equation.
Obviously the people who did this study know nothing about science, or are just trying to make a biased point.
