I'm a pharmacist, and when I had my first prescription to make a compounded Viagra suspension (crush up Viagra tablets and make it into a low dose liquid) for an infant... I freaked out a little bit too. It was on the weekend, and I left it for my partner to call St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis the following Monday to check what was going on before we'd make the compound. The parents were given a week supply when they left the hospital and understood why we were alarmed. Anyway, yes... this infant was using it for pulmonary hypertension too. I've made the compound a couple of times for this baby and it always makes me grin a little when I'm making it.

Are you sure it's Viagra? I can't think of any reason an infant would be on Viagra. Check with your doc to verify.

Viagra is indicated for two things: erectile dysfunction and pulmonary arterial hypertension. Both of those, an infant should not have.

The Doc is a Quack.. And if the parent doesn't get answers before giving it to the baby...then they are also a quack. Call a pharmacist if afraid to call the doctor on it. Could be bad handwriting on a prescription.

Ask the doctor. I'm being treated for prostate cancer and the doc is giving me some strange meds because of the side effects. It's been working good for me.

They used it to treat pulmonary hypertension. It's a legitimate use of the drug. Click on the link to read more.
