Some STDs can take YEARS for symptoms to show up, let alone months.

I have personally had both genital herpes and HPV for over 5 years now. I developed genital warts from my HPV about 10 months ago. It took me 4 1/2 years to develop warts from my HPV! Other than that I had no physical symptoms of the virus.

So, she could have had the STD for years and not had any symptoms of it until now. Some STDs can do that. That's why some STDs like HPV are spread so easily, because it can take a LONG time for symptoms of the virus to show up, and people are unaware they have it and go spreading it around unintentionally.
