A lovely "southern" style turnip can be cooked like this: Dice turnip(s) into 1 inch dices. Dice 1 medium golden onion also into small dices. Meanwhile heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a saucepan. Add diced turnip(s) and onion dices and cook until glossy. Add 1/2 cup water or enough water to almost cover veggies. Cover and simmer 5 minutes. Add 2 tablespoons soy bacon bits. Cook all until vegetables are soft. Excellent served with fried potatoes, turnip greens and fried, diced hard tofu with vegan pork seasoning. As delicious as your southern grandmother would cook but terribly vegan healthy and "rib sticking" enough for the coldest winter night!

Peel and slice into 1/4 inch wedges.
Boil until fork tender like a potato
Reserve the turnip liquid .
melt a stick of real butter
add about 1/2 cup flour
stir it will thicken
add some of the turnip juices to it it will continue to thicken
Add heavy cream continue stirring
add salt & pepper & parsley
Add cooked turnips to the mix
It is very similar to a bechemel and hollandaise sauce. It is all up to you and your tastes with how thick and or salty etc you want it.
Goes well over baked and boiled potatoes

Peel the turnips then dice or chunk and boil in a little water until tender. Drain water and add 1/4 stick of oleo or butter, salt and sugar, cook on low to medium heat. I like to brown them a little in the butter. It gives them a really good taste. I also like them on the sweet side.

YOU DONT! If you dont want to. Turnips are fine to eat if they're peeled. If you DO want to cook it, just throw it in some boiling water for about 10 minutes. That works tooo.

Turnips can be eaten raw or they can be steamed and mashed like potatos. They can be eaten in salads as well. We always put them in soups too. Good vegetable.
