No I don't. We were proudly a nation under God.

In Cronicles it is wriiten. " If my people who are called by my name . Will seek my face and turn from there evil ways, then I will hear from Heaven, forgive there sin and heal their land"

Hope I quoted correctly, From memeory. We as a nation need this healing and cleansing.

We must Pray for our nation.

If God really is giving extra attention to America in particular, then he hasn't been doing a very good job lately...

You just claimed that America was founded on a "Christian foundation." Well, let me brief you on a couple quotes from some of the more famous people who founded this country...

"The Christian god can easily be pictured as virtually the same god as the many ancient gods of past civilizations. The Christian god is a three headed monster; cruel, vengeful and capricious. If one wishes to know more of this raging, three headed beast-like god, one only needs to look at the caliber of people who say they serve him. They are always of two classes: fools and hypocrites."
-- Thomas Jefferson

"I have found Christian dogma unintelligible. Early in life, I absenteed myself from Christian assemblies."
-- Ben Franklin

"During almost fifteen centuries has the legal establishment of Christianity been on trial. What has been its fruits? More or less, in all places, pride and indolence in the clergy; ignorance and servility in the laity; in both, superstition, bigotry, and persecution."
-- James Madison

The people who founded this country didn't feel the same way you do. They didn't make this a Christian country.

***

I got them from this site: http://www.wonderfulatheistsofcfl.org/Quotes.htm -- In fact, search the full quote on Google and it comes up on many other sites, too. Besides, why don't you believe it? It's a well known fact that the founding fathers were Deist, not Christian.

Abe Lincoln, Christian? No way:

"The Bible is not my book nor Christianity my profession. I could never give assent to the long, complicated statements of Christian dogma."

- Abraham Lincoln, American president (1809-1865).

And concerning Washington (This is from Wikipedia; search "George Washington and Religion")

"Washington sometimes accompanied his wife to Christian church services; however, there is no record of his ever becoming a communicant in any Christian church, and he would regularly leave services before communion—with the other non-communicants."

"Long after Washington died, when asked about Washington's beliefs, Abercrombie replied: "Sir, Washington was a Deist!"

"Though Washington often spoke of God and Providence, there is little if any reliable source material for quotes by him containing the words Jesus, Christ, or Christianity. Various prayers said to have been composed by him in his later life are highly edited."

The founding fathers were Deist. They deliberately didn't make this a religious country because they themselves weren't Christian, and they didn't want the government establishing Christianity or any other faith as the official religion. They were great men and it had nothing to do with a belief in Christ.

Actually, its the opposite. America is so prosperous because of the basic FREEDOMS it provides. If those freedoms were taken away and replaced with theocracy, I'm sure America would suffer. Anyone who was not Christian would leave, putting the country into shock as it lost much of its workforce. The country would thin out because of the loss of people and would rearange to be centralized around Christian communities, which would destroy the economy, and anyone outside of a Christian communtiy would be at a dissadvantage because of the amount of distance they would have to travel for their basic needs. The country would crumble into a shadow of its past. We draw strength from our diversity, freedom, and progressive thinking, not from backsliding into an archaic religion.

THAT IS A VERY GOOD QUESTION and one worth really looking at ..I wish i could believe that but i cant , as i read all through the bible i see where God would only allow peace so long to nations that turned from Him or better turned from his ways..I feel right now God is looking at us .. as he looked at Jerusalem in Christs days , remember there was religion , but there was little love ..as he said oh how i have longed to gather you under my wing as a bird gathers her young for protection , but you were unwilling..
we today have most people claiming to be Christians , but are they living their lives in a Christlike way..But we see careers and materialism , and position , money and power drowning out the love of Christ in our lives and even in so many of the churches today in north America ..
How long can a heavenly father allow his children to hurt themselves and each other before he has to step in and discipline.

No, I don't believe he will. I believe the US has gotten farther and farther away from God, and I believe he may be turning his back on our country soon. With all the corruption and all of the wars we start in foreign lands, it would not surprise me for him to allow China or something else to take our country over at some point.

I pray for all of us. I pray that we will not make more wars, and that we will not be made war upon. Thank you for this question, it is an important one.

Joshua said to the people, "You cannot serve the Lord, for he is a holy God. He is a jealous God; he will not forgive your transgressions or your sins. If you forsake the Lord and serve foreign gods, then he will turn and do you harm, and consume you, after having done you good."

Once the people respond they will serve Lord our God, Joshua says to the people, "Then put away the foreign gods that are among you, and incline your hearts to the Lord, the God of Israel."

God has blessed america for its hard working people and democracy. Sinful ways were there long ago, are still there and will be there in future. Such sinful ways are abundantly found in islamic countries as well.

I believe our country will continue to flourish for allowing me to not believe in your god and for allowing other people to believe in their god or gods. That's the beauty of democracy and the basis on which our country was founded.

The trouble begins when people think they can dictate how others think or believe. That's why I don't live in China, Afghanistan, Iran, North Korea...
