Yes, we had problems with Strawberries a couple of years ago. It's all about poop in the fields, what are you going to do?
Funny thing is that this story broke when I when to China. I eat this pre-fab'd spinach like crazy. I lucked out by timing, b/c the problem started about a week after I left -- and my family won't eat the stuff if I don't make it.

probably not. people tend to associate things like this. I got sick off of orange soda when I was a child, and I have not had any since then. Orange flavor tends to turn me off because of that reason. I doubt I will eat spinach in a bag again. But you know what, I always washed my bagged greens, even lettuce, because even though they said they were washed, I wanted to be sure. I'm sure I will eat canned spinach, because I grew up eating it, all my generation did, I think because of the pop eye cartoons we watched growing up. Anyway, I think it tastes good.

Probably but I doubt I'll ever buy the Californian stuff.
Try Swiss Chard...it's amazing as a side dish. I make it by giving it a quick blanche in boiling water for a few minutes, then fry it in olive oil, garlic and chicken stock (or chicken soup powder mixed in with some water); just cover and let it simmer up for a few. I like it in fresh Italian bread for a sandwich, or you can buy pizza dough, let it rise for a few hours and make a "pie" out of it and I also add black olives and anchovies to that. Cover it in olive oil and a some chopped garlic and rosemary and bake till dough is cooked about 20-30 minutes. YUM!!!

Sure... wash it well with one of the veg-wash solutions sold in the health food stores. And cook it, until the problem is solved.
Maybe it takes such tragic events to wake up corporate farmers to the fact that their workers NEED hygenic toilet facilities. How many workers are forced to defecate in the fields? Or even if a porta-potty is available, there is no wash water and soap. Get real--- these are PEOPLE and should be treated as such.

yes, when it is safe to sell again...look at all the years, it has had no problems..yt it is kind of irritating to think that even thuings like organic spinach can harm you...if only wee were back to local farming and products and small farms instead of these mega factory farms that are unsanitary and sell altered food.

probably not. i never used to eat it, we grow it in our backyard in a little garden spot, it tastes better fresh and the bagged ones rot pretty quickly anyways
and i don't really like spinach, only in two recipes (my parents eat it)

Yes, but I will never eat it if it was made in California (the Swiss kind is good) and I will ALWAYS rinse it, even if it is triple-rinsed and organic.
