You can put it in a bowl of water with some lemon juice to keep it from browning for a very short time. Basically, if you cut it, you gotta eat it, though.

Some grocery stores carry a product called Fresh Produce, or something similar to it that is sprinkled on the cut produce to prevent it from browning. This sprinkled on produce and then Saran wrap over the produce so that no air touches it should prevent browning for a day or two. In my grocery story the product was located with the vinegar, paraffin wax and canning supplies.

Add a little lemon, put it in a glass or plastic bowl, cover with plastic wrap so the wrap is touching the avocodo and you might get 1 day out of it.

They go bad very quickly once cut.

citric acid will prevent browning of avocados, and apples too... for avocado I squeeze a little lemon juice (or the bottled lemon juice), same for apple, or with apple, orange juice works too. It's because of oxydation that the food turns brown...nothing harmful, just yucky looking

Keeps for only about 24 hours: put into a zip-lock or cover with saran, in fridge...it'll be fine. Sprinkling with lemon or lime helps too, and tastes nice as well.
