It's a perfectly reasonable question to ask. Here are the facts for ethnic groups in the U.S.

Blacks account for half of all new AIDS cases. Whites are 30%, hispanics are 19%, while Asians and Indians are less than 2%. The overwhelming majority of HIV/AIDS infections are the result of homosexual sex, and/or drug addiction (sharing dirty needles).

Black males are seven times as likely to become HIV/AIDS infected as white males. Compared to other ethnic groups, black males are slightly more than twice as likely as hispanic males, over six times as likely as American Indians, and nearly nine and a half times as likely as Asian males to become HIV infected.

Among women, blacks are even more vulnerable. Black women are twentyone times as likely as white women to catch HIV. Compared to other ethnic groups, black women are over four times as likely as hispanic women, nearly nine times as likely as American Indian women, and sixteen times as likely as Asian women to catch HIV.

Comparing men and women against each other, black men are over 41 times as likely as white women to catch HIV. But black women are still over three and a half times as likely as white men to catch HIV.

Of babies born with HIV/AIDS, nearly three fourths are black.

This CDC link will give you all the information you need, including easy to read graphs and pie charts, on AIDS/HIV rates for the different ethnic groups in the U.S. Good luck.
