it depends on the STD that u have. some STDs, once contracted, cannot be cured but CAN be controlled from reappearing again- eg. herpes! make sure u follow ur doctor's directions on how to apply the cream, when to apply and how often u shud apply it. if u are on oral treatment, make sure u follow the proper instructions for them as well. also, if you feel like ur symptoms are changing then go see the doctor again. make sure u see a specialist- a genitourinary or venereology specialist (sometimes they are both the same!), because most GPs don't know the proper dosage for treatment. when it comes to STDs and controlling them, following the doctor's instructions goes a long way

Some STDs take time to heal and for the symptoms to go away.

I have had HPV for over 5 years now, and about 10 months ago I had genital warts from it. It took OVER a month for the warts to completely go away after using a cream called Aldara.

Give the medication some time, and if you don't see improvements after a week or so, or the symptoms gets worse call your doctor! Good luck!

It depends on the STD. Some can be cured some can only be suppressed. Herpese is one such STD. However taking drugs and or applying creams have been shown to reduce duration of symptoms and future outbreaks so it is important that you use your meds exactly as prescribed by your doc.

You have not mentioned the type of STD you have. If you are infected with Herpes/papilloma/AIDS viruses, there is no cure. The virus will stay in your body till the rest of your life. Medication is only to control the symptoms. Eruptions will reappear frequently when your immune system weakens. As regards gonorrhea, the bacteria has became drug resistant and only new generation of antibiotics are effective. When you are under antibiotic treatment, fungus (candida albicans) will flourish in your body.
