First drink fluids and take something to keep the fever down than you can eat light foods. Maybe chicken broth, jello, ginger ail. The starve a fever is because a fever may cause you to be sick at your stomach because of the body heat and your body is fighting hard to get rid of the germs you have in your body. Your white blood cells are fighting like crazy.
Feeding a cold is because you don't want to become dehydrated or malnourished to the point that you get that fever. So, drink lots of fluids and get the fever down by taking ibuprofen and a room temp bath if you feel up to it. If not just wash down with cool washcloth and when your fever is down eat lightly and try to rest. That's the best way to survive that. If you get up to 103 make that bath cool and get to Dr. ASAP if the ibuprofen has no effect. Other than that just rest and drink as much as possible to get all that bacteria out of you and chicken soup is the Jewish mom's penicillin. Feel better soon.

Rest. You usually need to eat starchy foods like mashed pots, chicken noodle soup to help. Alot of times when you have fever you might not be able to hold things down, thats why they say things like that. Plenty of fluids and rest. Try to eat toast or anything that your taste buds can handle. Nothing greasy. if you can eat a little something do it. Hope you feel better

I wouldn't worry so much about food, but concentrate on taking in plenty of liquids so you don't get dehydrated. When the fever breaks, then start eating lightly.

You don't eat.
Seriously, you normally won't have a fever with just a cold.

The answer is feed, because that saying is not really true. You are supposed to feed both. Your body needs nutrition and energy to get better.

Eat as much as your body tells you to. If you're hungry, eat. But make sure it's healthy and not too heavy. Lots of liquids, too.
