I'm not a meat eater, but they say its unhealthy to not eat meat because you don't get enough protein. Thats not true! We eat seeds and nut and soy, eggs, etc. (unless you're a vegan) It's our choice! And, some meat is bad for you. Like red meat for example, when they eat a burger it usually isn't healthy. I hope this helped! Go vegetarians!!!!!!!!!!

I can think of no disease that you don't have to worry about and meat eaters do.
You are still at risk from coronary diseases, you are not immune. It's still the most common cause of death in veggies. It's not even all much that lower risk than meat eaters, which isn't even due to the meat eating but other variables like that veggies rarely smoke, drink, eat junk food and are generally health conscious.
That's the same with pretty much any ailment I can think of.
Mad cow disease is the only one really, but only 257 people have ever caught that, so I don't think it's something anyone, even those who eat nothing but raw beef, has to worry about (although aforementioned raw beef eaters would have other problems).
That said, I never claimed veggies were unhealth either.

I'm omnivorous, but I have no problem with Vegans. I know that you can have a healthy diet without meat, but I choose not to go that way. The thing I object to is other people telling me that my way is the wrong way and only they have the correct answers. If anybody chooses not to eat meat, it's fine with me. Just remember to get complete proteins. I do know about grain/legume combinations like tortillas and beans or bread with peanut butter. See, not all meat eaters are completely uninformed.

Maybe you are spending too much time on Y!Answers. I eat meat, but tottally respect vegetarians. I didnt eat meat for a few years, but now eat only organic meat. I dont see eating meat as wrong or unhealthy. What is wrong and unhealthy is the way that animals are being treated in factorie farms, and the amount that the average Joe is eating. I hope to one day have my own chickens, ducks, sheeps, goats, and rabbits, and to raise them nicely and eat them when they get old, or when I have too many. But untill then, they would be treated well and get to eat good organic feed.
I know many healthy vegetarian and meat eaters, and many unhealthy vegetariens and meat eaters. I think that we need to look beyond that.

Not all vegans are unhealthy. Some vegans have trouble getting enough protein and other nutrients because of all the restrictions it can be hard to get a balanced diet. But those tend to be the ones who don't do enough research into the foods they can and can't eat.
But I don't make categorical assumptions about vegans, just like you shouldn't make categorical assumptions about people who eat meat.

I don't say vegans or vegetarians are unhealthy, and I eat meat.
I go through phases of being an omnivore or a herbivore ... And both can be very healthy as long as you satisfy what your body needs.
Health professionals are concerned with the health of _some_ vegans/vegetarians who don't try to obtain a balanced herbivorous diet. It's not stupid at all. Wouldn't you say that someone who ate *only* bread and lettuce would have a health concern?? Smart vegans don't have health problems, and no-one would accuse them of it, as no-one would notice.
The human body needs a balanced diet to survive healthily, and part of that diet is protein. The best source of protein and energy is meat - so naturally some people think you can't eat properly without it. We're at the top of the food chain too, and generally that means eating the things below you...
Meat *is* a good food, as you require less of it to satisfy your energy needs, than with vegetables and fruits.
But if you eat leafy greens and nuts and so forth, what argument is left?
A healthy diet isn't about eating 'meat' as such, but about eating effective levels of proteins, fats and carbs as well as water vitamins and minerals.
I don't know what your source is, but no-one with a functioning brain these days would say that it is 'unhealthy to not eat meat'.

honestly, i don't think vegans are unhealthy. i think it makes meat eaters mad that most vegans are also animal rights activists, which is fine but when you have pam anderson saying stuff like KFC is cruel to their chickens and she's gonna go and protest against it that kinda makes people a bit mad. or when vegans say they don't wear leather. stuff like that. the way i feel is if youre a vegan good for you, but don't try to tell me how bad of a person i am because i like to eat meat. you have your way of life, and i have my way. why can't we all just get along? it's stupid to criticize people for what they eat.

we need animal proteins and animal fats to create hormones in our body. one time I cut back a lot on eating meat in general maybe having 2 servings a week and my sex drive went to hell. my energy was low and i went to the doctor and he told me my testosterone levels were too low and asked me about my diet. when i told him he said yeah that is it. eat more meat because you need the animal protein to make testosterone. so there a reason I would say it. meat makes you horny

Well, I for ine never said that you were unhealthly I think that some people feel that there is a benefit for eating meat. Just as some feel that there is a benifit for not eating it. I feel that our time to go is already written. So I feel that we should live as we feel and eat what we want. People live just as long and just as healthly eating meat as the ones who don't.
