Well, my aunt shot my dog. Altogether he has three shots. He's still living but, hurt real bad. The dog will not eat. He will only drink water or soup broth. Everytime he drinks he throws up. This happened two days ago and he has lost a LOT of weight. Any suggestions? If you want some pics, contact me and I'll send them.
We have stiched him up, he had 1 bullet go through his body. One that split the top of his back. The third is one that is a hole in his back. You can tell he is in a lot of pain. He is not active and "happy" like he always is. Just mopey and sad.
So...suggestions please!

7 days before, the dog was messing with a cow and bit his ear off. She shot the dog Thursday morning, the cow died thursday night (because of his ear, suspicious? So am I). The aunt was supposed to nurse the cow and everything and my dad volunteered to by the cow off of them, they wanted it back to health first.
She shot the dog on a thursday monring, in her yard. She believed the dog was going back to the farm (a mile and 1/2 from her house, pathetic woman eh?) So, without calling us to say "Your dog is up her..." she just opened the window and shot it.
We don't have the money to pay the vet. My neighbor was a vet and he did it for free.

Well, I'm a Parmedic and have been for 6 years. Animals are similar to human in the anatomy but have huge differences obviously. It sounds like the dog may have injuries that you can't see and that only can be seen with special equitment used at the vet clinics. To me you are prolonging the dogs death and making it more painful for him to die. From what you describre he's just siting there and starving himself and having a slow and painful death. Putting a dog to sleep is very hard because most of us consider them family members but it's the right thing to do from my experiences in the field as a Paramedic. As for you're aunt she could be fined and arrested for animal curelty and is a big discuss to me and other people here leaving comments. Hope for the best and you need to be the one to choose what's right. This here is just my opinion. Feel free to write back if you have any questions.

You say we stitched him up, who as in you or a vet? Of course he is not active he is probably in pain, how would you feel if you have been shot a couple of days ago. If he is not eating he is going to loose weight and that's not good. If you have not taken him to a vet , he needs antibiotics , he most likely has an infection. Seek a vets advise and call the human society and make a report. Why are you asking if someone wants pics that is very strange.

It is against the law to do what I would do to your aunt for shooting
my dog. He probably will recover as long as he doesn't get an infection, hopefully. Poor baby. How cruel some people are. I believe in karma. What goes around comes around. You get paid back 10 fold for the harm you cause to others. Sometimes it takes a while. Could you get the neighbor vet to look at him again? Try keeping him still, let him eat steak if he wants, let him rest a lot and pray to God to spare him. Perhaps he will, but if he is in a lot of pain? I will pray for him to. God willing he will be fine.

It is hard to know where to begin with the sheer stupidity of it all.
Should a dog that was shot be "active and happy"????
Someone should get rid of you and the rest of the family.
Yeah, I am hearing banjos playing in the background while reading this also!!!!! I bet any amount of money your neighbor is NOT a vet!!!!!!!! And maybe the whole solution is NOT LETTING THE DOG RUN FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And since you are broke dead-beats....give the dog to a shelter or have it put to sleep. It would perfer that to living with you.

Zoe, Metacam does not contain an antibiotic. It is an NSAID that helps with pain. It offers no protection at all against infection. (Just FYI.)
Nothing really to add to any other posts. This dog needs appropriate medical care ASAP. You've already waited 2 days, and the dog is no better. Sounds worse, actually. What are you waiting for??? If money is an issue, sell something at a pawn shop if you have to. Or...as many others have said...the animal shelter can euthanize him for you at no charge. That's what you paid taxes for. Two days is long enough to wait to see if he'll get better on his own.
And I agree....stay away from your aunt. :-/

How can you let an animal, supposedly your beloved pet, suffer in this way.
Animal control or a humane society will euthanize your dog for you if you can't affort the necessary medical treatment from a vet.
Your aunt can be prosecuted, fined and even given a prison term for what she did to the dog. Report the creep!

Why in the world did your aunt shoot your dog? I'd be a little bit more worried about your aunt's actions than the dog right now, but if your dog has been SHOT you really need to take the dog to a veterinary surgeon, who can tell you if he CAN be mended or whether it is time to say goodbye. And what is up with your aunt? Maybe its time to hide the guns from her??? Yeesh!!!

he could be bleeding to death of internal injuries.if u cant afford to take him to a vet, call the spca and see if theyll help with the cost, and let u pay them back in installments or by working there in ur spare time.ur aunt should be reported to pet control/police,and charges filed against her.even if u did a good job stitching him,he's suceptable to dangerous, possibly fatal, infection and should have antibiotics.ur aunt needs therapy, she's a danger, and shouldnt be around children or animals.if there is a local vet school, see if theyll help ur dog as a teaching case for free.call all local vets, see if they will help u pay "on time",or again, use him as a teaching case .without help, prognosis is grim.

I would call your local Police Dept. Make a record of this.
Your dog needs to be carried to a vet ASAP. W/o proper care he will die.
Your aunt would be paying for the dogs vet bills.
