All these damn naysayers...chewing tobacco or dipping tobacco is a legitimate use of tobacco without endangering others' lives by secondhand. I have dipped for a little over a month now, and thoroughly enjoy it, trying many kinds of brands. It's actually slightly better for you than smoking (as far as 28 vs. 400 carcinogens go). I haven't tried true "chew" where you place the tobacco between your cheek and gum, but I have "dipped" where you place it between your bottom (or top) lip and gum.

I will list brands and what I think of them (these are only what I've tried personally), and rating them on a 1-5 scale. As far as moistness, I rate it on how well it "packs".

Skoal Long Cut Mint: Good, all-around chew. Good buzz, good taste, and packs well, but high price.
Rating: 4

Skoal Bandits Mint: I got a tin of 20 pouches for 2 dollars, which was a special price. Buzz isn't much at all unless it's your first dip in a day or two. Taste is ok, but I prefer loose dip. Packing not necessary. Price seems average.
Rating: 3

Timberwolf Long Cut Mint: Great taste, adequate buzz, adequate at packing, adequate price. You get 1.32 ounces instead of 1.2 for a good enough price.
Rating: 3

Timberwolf Wolf Packs Wintergreen: More flavorful than Bandits (bigger pouches with more tobacco), low buzz (as with Bandits), no packing necessary, price is adequate for what you get.
Rating: 3

Kayak Wintergreen: Cheap, good flavor (I tasted cream soda my first dip with this, weird). Very loose, and not good at packing unless you put a huge dip in. Buzz is similar to Timberwolf.
Rating: 2 (I hate dip that doesnt pack well)

Kayak Peach: Same as Kayak Wintergreen, but Peach. Very tasty, smells great too.
Rating: 3 (Peach is better!)

Grizzly Long Cut Wintergreen: My first ever dip, great, lasting buzz, less than $3.00, taste is strong but not over-powering, and great to pack. First and favorite brand.
Rating: 5

Grizzly Long Cut Mint: Even better than Wintergreen since I prefer Mint flavor.
Rating: 5

Grizzly Long Cut Straight:The taste takes some getting used to but once you're through with a tin, though, you'll be glad you didn't throw in the mintiness. Tobacco tastes good in its unaltered form. Slightly larger buzz than the minty ones, same price, same great pack.
Rating: 5

Grizzly Fine Cut Natural: I bought this on accident today, thinking it was Long Cut Straight (I was in a hurry). Fine Cut irritates my lip more (more surface area for tobacco to cut your lip, more fiberglass/woodchips in proportion to tobacco, more physical pain when dipping). Taste takes a few dips to get used to, and the finely chopped tobacco gets stuck in your teeth and everywhere else. I currently have a cold so I have lots of phlegm and the juice isn't as tobacco-free as Long Cut. Also, my altered taste could affect this rating. However, I will never buy Fine Cut (any brand) again. Only buy Fine Cut because you get more nicotine from more holes in your lip and the buzz is almost twice as strong. Was dizzy and slightly nauseous for 5-10 minutes after spitting it out this morning.
Rating: 3 (Only for the buzz and brand name)

Sorry for the long answer, but I wish someone else would have put up something like this before I started chewing. I am a huge Grizzly fan, and I think it's the best dip out there. Big bang for little buck. I hope this helps, send me an e-mail or IM if you have more questions. I also have tried a few different kinds of (edible, no spitting) alternatives to dipping tobacco (Mint Snuff, Herbal Snuff) when you don't feel like getting cancer so fast, or giving your mouth a rest.

The only way to find the best is to experiment on your own.
Most people don't like Grizzly, but it's cheap and gets the job done. Just like me.

Happy Dipping!

Best Chewing Tobacco

As a tobacconist, I would first ask you what you mean by chew. Do you mean true chewing tobacco, like Levi Garrett, or Dip (also known as moist snuff)? For dip, I think the highest quality tobacco that is widely available is Copenhagen Long Cut Straight. It has a magnificent smoky flavor with a fair but not cloying amount of sweetness, a good amount of nicotine punch without being overwhelming, and it stays moist for a good long while. Stoker s Original, Stoker s Mint, and Stoker s Wintergreen are also at the top of my list if you want flavors. Stoker s Original is a very sweet, thick & long cut dip that packs a medium amount of nicotine. I think Stoker s uses the highest-quality tobacco on the market, but is not widely available.
As for genuine chew, I again think Stoker s has the quality corner covered. Hard to find but worth it, their Butternut is excellent, their Apple is excellent, their 24C is excellent (think Levi Garrett in terms of sweetness), and their Tennessee Chew is great too. As for widely available stuff, my longtime opinion is that Levi Garrett, while their tobacco is unquestionably of slightly lower quality than what Stoker s uses, it still surpasses most of the drugstore brands in flavor and moisture content, with a medium nicotine. Keep in mind that it isn t the cheapest around--actually that would (surprisingly) be Stoker s. They come in one-pound bags, and are pretty reasonable.
Hope this helps--happy chawin !

bought Skoal classic mint by accident the other day and it kicks *** 6$ a can and it is as good as Copenhagen straight if not better as a lot of people get tired of the sweetness in straight dip after a while. And more power to prideful tobacco users chew is good for the soul.

Copenhagen long cut straight, NOT ORIGINAL, Straight. Deliciously sweet, long-lasting flavor and good nicotine delivery; however, even the "long cut" copenhagen is a finer cut than most other brands. They need to cut it longer so it doesn't get all over your mouth. Decent price and is stronger than some other brands. And i agree that you people posting comments about how it will kill you: That is not the purpose of this thread. The purpose is to share your opinion of the best flavor. Why are you even on this page is you are anti chew?

I'm going to go with Kodiak wintergreen long cut. A little more expensive at about $7.00 a tin but very smooth. Lots of taste and good buzz. Also packs tight and no hard chunks or stems.

If you want quality, try the General Snus (pouch tobacco) from Sweden. It s available at many gas stations and tobacco shops across the US. The production method is not as chemistry-heavy as most of the US manufacturers, as I understand. Google it and read about it, then try it if you don t mind pouch-style tobacco. The taste, by the way, is great (my subjective opinion).

If you're just starting out I would suggest maybe Snus Camel pouches. My personal favorite is Grizzly Long Cut Wintergreen, it doesn't stay in your teeth as bad as fine cut and it give a good long lasting buzz.

Everybody who is adding your medical theory or hypothesis is a retard. The guy didnt want to know what the stuff does to you!!! Read the ******* description. He wanned to know the best arround, not a good way to kill himself. If he is chewing, he probably already knows the consequences of his actions. If all you can say is "dont chew" or "it's bad for you," shut the hell up because you have nothing good to say.
As far as chew, bro, I would say Grizzly Wintergreen Long Cut is the boss. It has absolutely delicious flavor, is less than three dollars a tin, and still gives me a nice buzz....go for it man..
Oh, and ignore the haters whose opinion is not appreciated!!!!!!!!
