Well, you could have something! Antibiotics in salad dressing. The first thing that comes to mind is bleu cheese. I do not know whether anyone has studied the antibacterial properties of bleu cheese, but the reason it is has bluish green parts is because of the mold Penicillin roqueforti. Strains of the microorganism are also used to produce compounds that can be employed as antibiotics, flavors and fragrances.

The ordinary E. coli that live in the human intestine are not harmful (so long as they remain in the intestine and not the urinary tract, lungs, etc.). As part of the normal flora of the human intestinal tract, E. coli plays a crucial role in food digestion by producing vitamin K from undigested material in the large intestine. E. coli is probably the most common micro-organism studied in introductory microbiology. It is found just about everywhere. .

E. coli plays an important role in modern biological engineering. Researchers can alter the bacteria to serve as "factories" to synthesize DNA and/or proteins, which can then be produced in large quantities using the industrial fermentation processes. One of the first useful applications of recombinant DNA technology was the manipulation of E. coli to produce human insulin for patients with diabetes.

But as far as drool is concerned, it seems that some human saliva has antibodies to E. coli O157

So throw a little blue cheese on your raw spinach and spit on it for good measure.

Well, you could buy a bottle of pre-made salad dressing.

You could also wash your vegetables, which will solve the whole e-Coli problem for you. The only reason it was a problem with the spinach is because the people who ate it thought it was clean in the bag and didn't wash it. I recognize that this was a reasonable expectation, considering the bag says it's been triple washed, but if you're worried, you certainly have options.
