Hepatitis C is NOT a symptom of HIV, however, a high percentage of those that have HIV are co-infected with Hepatitis C because of risky behaviour.
HCV is not thought of as sexually acquired because there has to be a blood to blood transfer. The risk is about .03% of getting HCV that way.
HIV however, is transferred via sexual intercourse due to the fact that HIV virons are active in bodily fluids (sperm and vaginal fluid).
HIV would also leave one more prone to getting HCV because there are many infectious diseases the HIV person can have that would result in open wounds. (where blood can enter the body)
The question you ask is an old myth, started by theory only. There is scientific fact that proves the theory in question is false.
Good luck to you and check out http://www.pubmed.com
or talk to your doctor about HIV and HCV.

I agree with the rest of the concensus. Hep C & HIV are two different diseases. One does affect the liver and the other one attacks the immune system. Thats a common myth. People sometimes mistaken and think that people die of the HIV or AIDS virus. The HIV suppresses the immune system, so the person can not fight infection. People die of complications of diseases associated with the virus, not the virus itself. Now, you can have HIV and have HEP C also. If you want to learn more consult your dr....

It's not uncommon, though, for Hep to travel with HIV. It's called Co-Infection. In the early days of HIV, before the antibody test was developed, HIV was tracked and detected by looking at individuals who were positive for Hep. It was found that many people who had Hep, also had symptoms of HIV disease.

The gernral senario would be that the paitent would be Hep Cposative aswell as HIV..., so the break down of immune system would give the Hep c a chance to move in n kill the HIV patient...!
Dependes on when Hep is contracted...but yep 2 different diseasees...!

No it's not, HIV affects your immune system and Hepatitis affects your liver. To learn more from professionals visit this site and lookup both diseases. it is not impossible to be infected by both, but they are not related to each other.

Two very different diseases. High risk behavior (unprotected sex, intravenous drug abuse) can lead to both, though. And you can be co-infected, but usually they are transmitted separately. Hepatitis C is very rarely transmitted sexually, actually. Usually you have to have blood exposure.
