I think you should ask your doctor. Since you placed this question under respiratory diseases, you are aware that Sarcoidosis can effect the lungs. At the very least, you should have a plain x-ray of your chest. Second, it would be best if you see a specialist for your treatment, a doctor in allergy and immunology.

Have you had a chance to sit down with your doctor and talk about treatment options? There is no cure for Sarcoid disease. It seems you already know that corticosteroids are used to treat Sarcordosis. If your Sarcoid disease is managed well, you can avoid taking steriods. But, whenever there is a flare up, you are going to need to take steriods. Stress is responsible for most flare ups. Interestingly, patients who exercise and are active do much better than those who do not. So, I encourage you to do as much as you can. Below is a short least of side-effects of prolong use of corticosteriods:

1. Patients bruise easily
2. Impaired immune system (i.e. easily become ill)
3. Obesity
4. Cushingnoid Face (i.e. very round and full face.)
5. "Buffalo hump" (i.e. enlarged upper back)
6. Increase in lipids (e.g. high cholestrol)
7. Psychosis (very rare)
8. Acne

Sarcoidosis is a chronic disorder. Your treatment will be lifelong. For prednisone (note spelling) the common adverse effects are euphoria, insomnia and peptic ulcers. The life-threatening adverse effects are pseudomotor cerebri, seizures, heart failure, arrythmias, thromboembolism, pancreatitis and acute adrenal insufficiency. There are many less common adverse effects. Now I have a question for you. Why is it that you have not asked these questions of the prescriber???? It is inappropriate of you to put these questions online.
