Genital herpes (also called HSV infection) is a viral infection caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV). It is a sexually transmitted disease (STD) that may cause skin blisters and sores in the genital area, but often causes no visible symptoms. It is possible to get genital herpes through sexual contact with an infected person even if he or she has no symptoms.

Genital herpes is one of the most common sexually transmitted diseases in the United States and worldwide.

Genital herpes can be caused by either the herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1)—which also causes cold sores—or the herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2). HSV-2 is the most common cause of genital herpes infection in the United States.

There are many forms of the herpes virus, it is the most common infectious virus contractible by humans besides the common cold.

In fact most people have some form of herpes or another.

Cold sores are actually caused by a herpes virus.

Genital Herpes is a painful virus which you can get through having sex with an unprotected partner.

Herpes results in lesions to the skin, and at this point the virus is most easily spread. Thats why as a kid when your mom or dad got a cold sore they wouldnt kiss you good night, or let you drink after them.

Or why people in monogamous relationships with a genital herpes partner avoid sex, especially unprotected, during an outbreak.

hi herpes is a std which is the same as cold sores on your mouth but in the genital areas, this can be passed on through oral or penetrative sexual activity, symptoms include cold/flu and fever, painful areas in the genital areas, which then turn to blisters which pop and leave open sores, once is have herpes it is incurable but you be prescribed antibiotics which will prevent a relapse being so painful, if you have another flare up of the herpes attack it is best to avoid sex until it has cleared to prevent passes it on.
If you are pregnant and have herpes a c-section might be offered to protect the baby (normally only if you symptoms of a relapse) as herpes can cause meningitis if passed onto a baby, if you have no symptoms a normal delivery should be fine as long as you are monitored closely by your midwife

That's some bad stuff. Flares up and can be very uncomfortable. Don't think there's a cure either, you just carry that crap around with you like luggage. ALWAYS use protection.
