You just place tortilla chips on a plate...melt some cheddar cheese on it....then you stack: lettuce, tomatoes, diced onions, refried beans, salsa, (hamburger if you wish) or make it all veggie.... top with sour cream...sprinkle with black olives if you like them...My boyfriend LOVES this...and it's easy!!!!

Here in California, we call that Nachos, with lettuce. If it has too much lettuce, it's Taco Salad. Nachos were a staple in my home since the mid 70s until I became allergic to corn & beans. Too bad that, commercially, nachos have since been reduced to tortilla chips with melted spicy cheese wiz. But you can still find a good restaurant that serves Nachos your way, but without lettuce.

Haystacks, the pre-school version... Chinese fried noodles, (canned or bagged) mixed with your favorite frosting, to coat. Pile into cute little haystacks. Allow to firm up a little or eat them right away.

Oh yes. I love Haystacks! Now I've became vegan I stay away from the cheese and dairy sour cream. (Use Tofutti sour cream. Just as good.) It's a bit spendy, but if you use it sparingly it will last quite a while. Tofutti cream cheese is really good too!

Sounds amazing!! Have you tried the OTHER kind of haystack? You mix melted butterscotch chips, nuts, and Chinese crispy noodles and place them in little "stacks" on wax paper to cool. Love 'em!

For a nice change try using Pepper Jack cheese, You will have to grate it yourself but is well worth the effort. Ooh, don't forget a sprinkling of ripe olives.

I grew up knowing from mom that haystacks were a chocolate-coconut sweet. I'll always pick up some where I can find them. Yum!
