I had just posted a question about this, but it was getting too lengthy, so I decided to open up a new one. I had my claims rep come to my house ans take pictures and everything, am I still able to cancel the claim for my car accident inorder to have the person at fault's insurance to cover it?

There are a couple of ways to do it. You can file through your company & then your company can get reimbursed from the other person's company. Or, you can cancel your claim & attempt to file through the other carrier. I'd personally let my own company handle it & then let them chase after the other company.

Good luck!

Your insurance company will be very happy if you cancel your claim. That way, they save money. But the the incident is already on your record. Before you cancel make sure that the other insurance company will really cover the damage. Otherwise, you will be left with an empty bag.

If the other parties' insurance will cover the damage, you will of course not have to pay the deductible.

Yes. You can file with the other carrier and cancel your claim. The other insurance company will still want to see your vehicle though.

yes, you can withdraw a claim. Just call the adjuster, and tell them you're withdrawing the claim.

Did the other insurance company tell you they were going to pay? I'd wait for that to happen before withdrawing the claim!

You may be able to. Call your insurance company to find out. I'm sure your insurance company would be more than happy to find out that another insurance company would be willing to pay the damage.

cherox is right you'd better not cancel your claim until you have IN WRITTING that the other insurance will pay for damages.
