Yes. A person can catch herpes simplex virus 1 (cold sores) from kissing someone with the, sharing a drink, cigarette, lipstick, chap stick, you name it. Basically anything they have their lips or mouth on.
Genital herpes is mainly spread through sex and direct skin to skin contact. So, if a person shared a drink with someone who has genital herpes they would NOT get it from them.

I got diagnosed with the herpes simplex virus (type 2) about 4 yrs ago, when I was still attending college and had a stupid one-night stand. I understand a lot of young women say this, but I swear I had never done that sort of thing before. Yes, it's possible. I don't know about smoking, but I wouldn't be sharing things anything anyway if I knew I was infectious.
I've also heard that wet towels can carry it too.

If you can through smoking then i must have it because last time i check no you cant through smoking but everything else yes!!
