Some tests are done through blood. Recently they have been offering a test where they collect cells from your mouth. It is painless and easy to do.

they can take blood and they can take a swab of your mouth.

CapNIdiot is the first answer and absolutely wrong. There is no test for the HIV virus.

The test is for antibodies which are alleged to be specific to HIV, however, like most things in life there are no absolutes and over 70 different conditions can cause a false positive on the tests.

The Elisa has a greater false positive result and must be confirmed by a Western Blot. Nevertheless, they dont tell you about the other conditions. Additionally, diagnosis of a postive result varies practically country to country. You may be positive in Ivory Coast, but not here. Or pos in USA but not England.

There is no standard.

Simple taking of blood. They'll tag it, test it and determine if HIV is present. You'll probably get a phone number to call within a few days to get the results privately.

just like any other blood test. They put a tourniquet around your arm, insert a needle syringe and withdraw some blood.
