Veganism (also known as strict vegetarianism or pure vegetarianism) is a philosophy and lifestyle that avoids using animals and animal products for food, clothing and other purposes. In practice, a vegan (an adherent to veganism) commits to the abstention from consumption or use of all animal products, including meat, fish, poultry, honey, eggs and dairy products, as well as articles made of fur, wool, bone, leather, feathers, pearls, nacre, coral, sponges and other materials of animal origin. Many vegans also avoid products that have been tested on animals.

People become vegans for a variety of reasons, including ethical concerns such as animal rights and the environment, as well as more personal reasons such as health benefits[1] and spiritual or religious concerns. A Time/CNN poll published in Time on July 7, 2002, found that 4% of American adults consider themselves vegetarians, and 5% of self-described vegetarians consider themselves vegans. This suggests that 0.2% of American adults are vegans.

In 2002, the UK Food Standards Agency reported that 5% of respondants self-identified as vegetarian or vegan. Of that 5%, approximately 10% ate white meat, nearly half ate fish and 95% ate dairy. Based on these figures, vegans are approximately 0.25% or less of the UK population.[2] The London Times estimates there are 250,000 vegans in Britain.[3]

A vegan eats nothing that comes from an animal - no meat, fish, dairy, eggs, nothing of animal origin. Most vegans won't even eat honey, though some do.

Most vegans extend this principle to what they wear, as well - no leather. Opinion is divided about wool!

A vegan is one of the 3 types of vegetarianism. Vegans eat nothing from animals. That means no meat, no lard, no wearing fur, no dairy, no fish, and the hardest: no gelatin. Gelatin is crushed bones. You can find it almost anywhere: marshmallows, Jello, even yogurt sometimes! You will have to read ingredients very carefully.

A vegan eats only plants and seed products, no dairy allowed either. They don't eat anything that ever had a heart beat or will eventually have a heartbeat.

Their motto is to not to eat anything or anything that comes from a creature that has a face. The also don't want to wear anything made from animals either.

According to Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vegan#Vegan_nutrition

"There are several nutrients vegans should pay attention to. These include vitamin B12, iron and iodine: deficiencies in these are more likely following a vegan diet, and deficiencies of these have potentially serious consequences, including anemia, pernicious anemia, cretinism and hyperthyroidism."

"Many vegans question whether it is ethical to make use of products which result in the death of animals. Organizations such as the Foundation for Animal Use Education [12] dispute that a non-vegan diet entails exploitation of or cruelty to animals, and support the concept of animal welfare while promoting the use of animals in food and fiber agriculture.[13] These groups also dispute whether animals are sentient and have inherent rights, stating that rights are a function of being "moral agents" making moral judgments and comprehending moral duty, and that animals do not exercise responsibility as moral agents. If a person claims to be a vegan, but drives a car (gasoline = fossil fules = dead animals) or wear/use leather products (animal hide), they're hypocrits.

some self righteous killer of plants that thinks they're better than a meat eater. If vegans worry so much about animals, then they should not kill plants that other animals depend on. hahaha just kidding.
