The easy rule is red wine with red meats. white wine with white meats. I actually prefer a good zinfandel

Chianti (try Straccali) or Sangiovese (try Santa Cristina) or for even lower dollar stuff that's still tasty, try Bolla Valipocella... or Citra Montepulciano D'Abruzzo. These are fairly classic varieties.

For something different... try Cabernet Franc or Malbec

A nice bottle of red wine: Red Zinfandel would work.

Go with a Merlot - barefoot is pretty good for a low cost bottle, I quite like Beringer White Zinfandel with my spaghetti, again a low cost option.

Go with any red wine providing it has a cork. Stay away from screw-top bottles!

Chianti is always a great choice to serve with red-sauce type dishes.
