Slice into 1 inch thick slabs. Fry in oil until golden on both sides. Turn down the heat and add 1-2 tablespoons of soysauce until it gets absorbed into the tofu, turning it over frequently to coat evenly. Top the tofu either with BBQ sauce or slather it with apricot jelly (the jelly will make a glaze). If you can cook it on the BBQ with either coating it will be more wonderful. If not, maybe broil it in the oven.

Throw that cheap stuff in the trash. Why don't you spring for some high quality good stuff like non-dairy eggplant parmesean or baba ganoush or hummus and pita or meatless shish kabobs on the grill, basmati rica and a delicious microbrew? Remember these are not just guests, they're your friends.

Probably your vegan friends will not care for meat replacements, for they have no need to replace something you do not need. They will love if you bake them pastry with an Indian style curry as a filling with lentils and risotto rice and mushrooms.

I saw Curtis Stone cube it, roll it in sesame seeds and then deep fry it. He then put the fried cubes on top of a beautiful green salad. Looked good to me and I don't like the stuff! LOL

You could google it.
Or have it Japanese style. Silken tofu, cold, with Japanese soy sauce, spring onions and kombu.
Or the Chinese have a million and one recipes!
Peace.

suggestion: purchase Boca or Morningstar Farms meatless soy crumbles. It can be used in anything you would use ground beef in (pasta sauce, casseroles, etc.)
