I don't want to give a definitive answer on this, but Salt does not raise cholesterol. Fats and Sugars and carbs do. So your best bet would be to cut out some of the carbs from asian dishes and keep using the sauce.. I'd stay away from salty if you had high blood pressure though!

I saw that you are wondering about oyster sauce and you are asking for opinions.
I'm sending you this link in response, where I have answered in the past about it. (ref.: Does

About the rest, it is all a question of taste. In any case, extra virgin olive oil, is always to prefer.

Uncooked sauces such as pureed sweet mango in a little mustard oil and chillies. Tastes great on grilled fish. Or try diced or blended cucumber and mint leaves in plain yoghurt (raita). Another of my favourites is tamarind sauce. You boil tamarind juice with a little molasses or brown sugar, ginger , black pepper (or green chillies) and reduce until thick: It goes well with meat or vegetables.

Where's the fat, cholesterol, salt or preservatives? All things white (sugar, flour, rice, potatoes, milk etc. in their processed states).
