It's always possible but pretty rare to never have had an outbreak even though you were diagnosed with it.
I have had genital herpes for over 5 years. I haven't had an outbreak in almost two years, but I HAVE had outbreaks so I know I have the virus.
As for your pap smears being normal, that's nothing genital herpes would affect. Genital herpes does not cause pap smears to become abnormal. HPV (Human Papillomavirus) does but not herpes - those are two completely different viruses.
You got to remember too, doctors have been known to be wrong sometimes. It's always possible you were diagnosed and never actually had the virus. I have read blood tests can be inaccurate sometimes with genital herpes. Usually two separate tests are ordered and compared to each other.

Some people with herpes rarely have outbreaks. But they can still pass along the disease to their partners.
You may want to have another blood test to confirm the first one, and get advice from your doctor on how to keep your partners safe.

I am absolutely terrified and I feel so alone. I just found out last week that I tested positive for hsv1 and 2. I have been with the same man for the past 10 years and within the last year found out that he has cheated on me with numerous women. I am so scared that I can give it to my children by kissing them and them eating with me...I feel like my whole life has changed. And even though the nurses, my doctor, and websites say that a lot of people have it I still feel like I am by myself. My self esteem has dropped and I feel like I have been used up. But now, My life is very happy.

Get the blood test again.
My doctor said that they sometimes get false positives.
And yes, maybe you do have it, and you may never get an outbreak. But even if you don't show symptoms, you can still spread it, so be careful.
