Ethiopian food is tasty and a lot of fun to eat with friends, due to the way it's served--a big communal plate and no utensils. You eat it by starting at the edges and tearing off a piece of the flat bread (all the other food is served on top of it, but there will be some at the edges you can tear off) and using that bread to scoop up some of the rest of the goodies. As you eat the food on top, you'll be uncovering more of the bread, which you can then use to eat some more of the food on top, and so on! It's a fun experience and a great place to go if you're a vegetarian or going out to eat with someone who is: there will be a lot of interesting vegetarian offerings on the menu.

Think of the spiciness of Mexican or Indian food, the variety of Chinese and the fun of Middle Eastern food.

The bread item the first respondant spoke of is injera, a flat bread similar to a pita or tortilla, but bigger, it is the utensil you use to eat the "Wot", a stew made of lamb, chicken or beef and sometimes depending on the owner fish.

Like Indian restaurants they are informal places, and serve lots of fresh veggies and rice on the side, there is something for everyone palate. It does tend to be on the spicy side because of berbere sauce used in the cooking, but not killer hot.

For a real experience at the end of the meal, it does have to be ordered in advance, enjoy a Ethiopian coffee, a real treat

There are several Ethiopian places near me, and although I have never eaten in any of them the menus look great, they seem to feature quite a lot of egg and rice dishes.

Yes, it was tasty and served on a huge central "dish" of flat bread and was eaten using no utensils just fingers and the bread it was served on... lots of veggies, not much meat.

yeah I liked it - but I was not to crazy about the bread. The meat and veggies were really good.
