I guess there is mixed messages out there- hard to know what is true or not. From what I gather if you have the same strain of HPV and neither one is having an outbreak that you will not pass the same strain of the virus back and forth. Even if one of the partners naturally clears the virus from their body, which actually does happen, and the other one doesn't- the cleared partner will not 'recatch' that same strain. So if you are sure it's under control and there isn't an outbreak I am not sure if it would make any difference.

It's always possible you have different strains of the virus. Since there are over 100 different kinds of the virus it is possible for you to give your wife a kind you have that she doesn't have and vice versa. It's possible now for the doctor to determine what kind or kinds of HPV a women has. All she has to do is ask the doctor next time she sees them.
So, it's kind of a yes and no answer. Since condoms are not 100% effective, especially with STDs that are spread by direct skin to skin contact, like HPV and herpes. The condom only covers the penis; it is still possible for a person to contract HPV from just rubbing genital areas together, regardless if the penis actually enters the vagina.
I'm glad you know that HPV and herpes are two different viruses too. I can't believe how many people confuse those two!

The answer is of course you can! It wont be recommended by your doctor. There are a couple of very good treatments out for HPV one is a cream called aldara it is a very effective way to boost the immunity at the locations that you are experiencing the virus, please note that like most virus's it is in your blood stream and can reemerge if your system is for some reason challenged. Women need to be careful with this virus as it is licked to cervical cancer. The good news is there is now a vaccine that is available to women and is theorized to help those who already have this virus. The great part about the aldara cream is that it covers a large surface and can bring this problem under control so that you can both enjoy each other and your choices

Herpetic keratitis -- herpes infection of the eye leading to scaring within the cornea and eventual blindness.
Persistent infection of the mucous membranes and skin of the nose, mouth, and throat
Herpetic esophagitis -- infection of the esophagus
Herpetic hepatitis -- infection of the liver causing inflammation of the liver and eventual liver failure
Encephalitis -- a very serious infection of the brain. If untreated, approximately 60-80% of those who contract this condition will progress to coma and death within a few days. Those who recover often suffer some impairment, ranging from mild neurological impairment to paralysis
Pneumonitis -- infection of the lung causing a life-threatening pneumonia
Recurrent attacks can occur as seldom as once per year, or so frequently that the symptoms seem continuous. Recurrent infections in men are generally milder and of shorter duration than those experienced by women.
Please see the webpages for more details and images on Herpes simplex.
