You need the colors purple, green, and gold. Then do anything streamers, balloons, or confetti. Bake a King Cake, pound cake the fancy ones are actually braided bread, decorate with purple, green, and yellow sugar and place a tiny plastic baby in it the person whose piece contains it gets a prize. Have a parade dress up in any costume remember this is a day to celebrate eat well and lots before midnight when it is Ash Wensday and Lent begins, The day Jesus entered the garden. I don't know why those colors are used I guess because they are bold. Have fun!

Go to Oriental Trading Co. (site). They totally have Mardi Gras decorations, tons of them, and not too expensive.

You can always make paper chains ans bead necklaces. You could make masks from paper plates. simply cut the plates in the mask shape of your choice and 2 holes on the sides for string. You can decorate them yourself or send them to guests with the invitation and ask them to decorate them and wear them to your party.

Have lots of balloons in green/purple/gold. You can even have some filled with confetti. Simply insert a funnel and spoon in the confetti. Then, being careful not to spill the confetti, fill will helium and attach long curly ribbons and pop over the head of unsuspecting guests.

I hope this helps.
