more than 10 percent body weight lost in six months or faster is a concern if it is unintentional. otherwise this a fairly small weight loss, stay put and if it persists or if you develope any new symptoms then see a doctor, good luck

the easiest way to find out is to be tested. I would think you would be having more symptoms than weight loss if it's diabetes so check the other symptoms and see where you fit in. But there are lots of reasons you could be losing weight, from serious to nothing special. Probably time for a check up anyway, right?

It's unlikely. Men in there 40s and over may put on weight, one of the diabetes signs, but unlikely to loose weight.

Maybe, but it may be something less serious. Age, season and a change of routine can make you lose weight, keep an eye on it but don't worry too much, if you forfieting two pints of cider a week that equals 1 pound, therefore 4 pound a month...

there is two types of diabetes..
type 1 is the type that occures in childres & associated with low wight...
type 2 is the type that occures in adults & is actually associated with central obesity (the upper & lower limbs would be skinny, the trunk is obese)....
so if u have a positive family history of diabetes, & i'm assuming u're not a child, & complaining of wight loss....i wouldn't say this is a sign of diabetes...
Note: weith loss is clinically segnificant when it is 10% in 3 monthes... or when u really feel that u're ring or clothes have really changed for u....
& there r more important symptomes for diabetes than weith loss: increased: thirst, eating & urination...

It could be a sign of a number of different things, or it could be a sign of nothing. But you won't know that unless you get checked out. Since you already know diabetes is in your family, you need to get checked for it regularly.

Actually, most diabetics retain weight, vs. losing it. The best bet would be a simple blood test performed after a period of fasting.
