I had sex and there was protection used. I recently had my STD results and everything came out negative. I have to retake it for the HIV test in 6 months. My question is if there's a smaller chance of getting infected if I didn't have and STD now? The person I had sex wit has had multiple partners in the past.

If you slept with someone one time and used protection chances are you will not get HIV from that person. If you do have an STD your chances increase of catching another STD or HIV.

"Correct and consistent use of latex condoms reduces the risk of HIV/AIDS transmission by approximately 85% compared to unprotected sex."

You have the same chance of catching an STD from your sexual partner whether you have an existing STD or not.

The only exception is if you have an existing STD that causes genital lesions in which case you are MORE likely to catch another STD.

However, you have used "protection" (I'm hoping you mean a condom) and if this is sufficient it will minimise your chances of catching an STD (whether you already have one or not).

well, kudos to you for using a love glove :D but you both really need to get tested. std's can be prevented by using protection but no form of contraceptives are 100% reliable for std's.
