Hepatitis B often resolves on it's own with time. If the disease resolved naturally your husband would still carry hepatitis B antibodies but he would not be contagious. If he doesn't clear the disease on his own, there are retroviral drugs that can help clear the virus. A percentage of people with untreated Hep B will develop chronic liver disease and the potential for cirrhosis or liver cancer.

You need to see a hepatologist or infectious disease specialist that works with many hepatitis patients and have them monitor your husband. Blood tests will tell whether the virus has cleared or whether he needs retroviral treatment. It might take a couple years for his immune system to clear the virus or not. The infectious disease Dr can tell you how you can have a healthy baby.

good luck

Yes, people get healed from Hep B.

If you have not gotten the vaccine against Hep B, that is your very first job.

Do not depend on your husband (or us) for information, do your own research. Start here:

then check the CDC and NIH and follow their links.

Go see your ob/gyn about the situation, AFTER you verify with his doc that he is indeed infected. If you have not contracted the disease, it seems that it might be possible for the two of you to have children, IF you have been protected by the vaccination. But don't trust me on that, ask your ob/gyn and your primary health care provider!

The infected person can probably live longer with a rich diet. The disrese is likely to be passed on to the offsprings.
