Hi, My wife has the above symptoms. She didn't want to post anything but I figure.. hey.. nothing too lose at this point.
O.k. She has had a good work up from her Dr. and Coronary Specialist. Thallium test(spelling?), Cornary CTA and so far negitive from any obvious symptoms, EKG'S. Cholesterol is good etc.. all looks good. Not much stress in her life right now and only works part time.
She doesn't have pain when she exercises (fast walking).. just when she relax's ... not every time.. just once in awhile. The pain in the jaw left arm etc.. so I have too be concerned.. besides... yea... *here it comes... no snuggly in the bed while she is having problems so it is better for all of us...( that means me)... that we get this resolved so I am looking for any thoughts that you may have that we can research.
We are learning as we go and just trying to gather info. so we can make better decisions about future treatment decisions.

Interesting problem. Three things come to mind. The first and most obvious to me is the heart, although I saw what you said about her check-ups. People who check out just fine at the doc have heart attacks all the time. Here's a few things to be aware of. Symptoms in women can be very different than a man. Jaw pain, collar bone pain, back pain, can all actually be heart symptoms. Check out WebMD.com on that note. They have a good write up.
Second concern is a possibility of bone spurs or a bulging disc or even a herniated disc in the neck. The pain down the arm is what makes me wonder.
Third. Seemingly unrelated to the jaw and arm pain, does she have low back pain? Ankylosing Spondylitis wreaks absolute havoc and can cause all sorts of stuff that look unrelated but actually are not. It used to be thought of as a man's disease and that is now known to be completely false. It almost always brings low back pain and in addition, jaw pain can be in the mix as well as bone spurs in the shoulder (acromion) that can cause pain down the arm. Here's a great site about ankylosing spondylitis: http://www.spondylitis.org/main.aspx
Hope this helps.

Hi ! My wife is 43 and she has been having those kinds of pains for about ten years . Of course she smoked a bit and stopped about 16 yrs ago from my advice. When the pain is so intensed, she may almost lost her breath. So I would have her sit up and rub her chest slowly ---- between her breasts. At times I would massage her back----especially between the shoulder blades. If you press a bit hard , there is a spot on the left, and another one symmetrically on the right. She would feel it being comfortable.Be patient and keep massaging. I hope she would find relief as my wife does most of the time.

Try a Chiropractor... I was having some of the same with no evident reasons and a chiropractor friend said it could be a rib out of place. He worked on it (high and in the back) and within minutes I was fine.
Certainly worth a shot if everything else cardiac has been eliminated.

This might sound strange but she might have gallstones. I went through the same thing about 3 weeks ago in the ER and they did an ultrasound where they found gallstones. Find out if this is something that runs in her family. If it does they will recommend that the gallbladder be removed. I had mine removed a week ago and lot of those symptoms disappeared.

Sounds a bit like costochondritis. I've had it for years. May not be, but you might want to check it out. I started having really bad chest pains but all the tests (EKG, Eco-Cardio Grams, X-Rays, blood tests . . . ) all came back fine. That's what they finally figured out it was.

You are probably looking at disk degeneration, pinched nerve in the spine or something along those lines..PM me and describe the specific symptoms.. but I would advise you see a specialist in arthritis. Women especially are susceptible to upper spinal disorders

Are you sure about the stress or anxiety, you can still have anxiety even if you don't work. It dosen't have to be one big thing to cause it, it can be many little things which all add up. I'm only 22 and have anxiety attacks which causes chest pressure or sharp pain.

ask her coronary specialist about coronary artery spasms. that is what sounds like is going on to me, i have them and at times it can make you think you are having a heart attack and my heat doctor told me that it could cause one due to the artery spasm closing the artery off just as a blockage would do. so do some research on artery spasms and talk to your doctor about them, there are medications that help with them and believe me they do help.
