Does anyone know if squash is considered a starchy food like a potato and other root vegetables?

I don't know, but I know how you can find out... go get some iodine and put it on the squash, and if it turns blueish purpleish, then it's a starchy veggie. If not, then it's not starchy.

Squash is good for you. All the different squashes are vegetables not starchy at all.'

Most weight watching programs classify squash as a starch, except for spaghetti squash. Diabetic programs also follow this thinking.

most are somewhat high in starch, but there are many differences among ALL the squashes.. acorn, butternut, yellow crook, yellow straight, italian, spaghetti, etc etc. Every squash is extremely healthy, but starch content varies

Some Squash is some not so much. Acorn & Butternut are& Zuchinni isn't.

I would say NO! its a vegetable.
