what is your aspirin regimen for?
as a prevention for heart attack or stroke?
if so, then 81 mg is the recommended dosage.

too much aspirin would be a bad thing if you had a hemorrhagic stroke.

81 mg is the typical dose, but check with your doctor to make sure that it's okay. If you are on other blood thinners such as coumadin or plavix, you may not need the aspirin. Also, noteworthy~ watch for signs of bleeding or blood that is too thin. Signs are bloody stool, black tarry stool, coffee ground emesis, (vomit) increased bruising, and nose bleeds. Aspirin can also cause tinnitus (ringing in the ears) if taken too much. Sure,it's an over the counter medicine, but can cause lots of problems. Just be informed.

Did your doctor suggest 325 mg? If you are doing this on your own, it has been determined that 81 mg (a baby aspirin) is just as effective as an adult aspirin. In the hospital we usually use the 81 mg tablets.

What does your doctor say? Did he recommend the regimen? If he didn't or you haven't spoken to a doctor then don't start aspirin therapy. If he did recommend it, then he would've told you what does to take. Though generally safe, daily aspirin therepy, at any dosage, can have side effects or long-term effects. Talk to your doctor before self-medicating!

If taking for preventive therapy, 81 mg once daily is enough (I take the same dose myself). Always remember to take it on a full stomach to prevent stomach upset or bleeding stomach ulcers.

I have been taking two of the 325mg tablets for over 30 years and have not experienced any problems.
