I said that they would have to have some sort of safeguard i.e. 12,24 months of proven control. Otherwise if she had a hypo mid air, people could sue the airline. I know they are not allowed to discriminate but maybe as a safety issue they would not employ her. If anyone works for an airline and knows the answer to this i would be really grateful.

No diabetics are not allowed to be cabin crew. I have applied and been turned down for being diabetic. It is very logical and non-discriminative.
If you are on a long haul flight and need some food, there is nowhere to go for it. Cabin crew need to be fit enough to look after the passengers and not have to worry about their own needs.

You can work within the airport though if this is any consolation.
Other jobs us diabetics can't do are - paramedics, doctors within a hospital and nurses doing the long demanding shifts, police force or any armed forces. Anything that implies that others depend on you or situations that would put your diabetes at risk.

Hope this helped.

I know that she would never be able to become a commercial pilot even if controlled but I do not believe there are such regulations on cabin crews. Check the ADA website, it is a very good resource for this.

health and safety issues would not allow any airline to employ an insulin diabetic as flight crew i'm afraid! It would be to dangerous to staff and passengers.

As long as flying does not cause any symptoms of diabetes to become worse, they cannot discriminate. It is against the law.

Not a chance they would employ her sorry, as they could not guarantee she could have her meals at set times, also with the risk of problems taking her insulin at set times on journeys, they wouldn't be able to offer her a job.
