No hummus is not fattening. It is actually chick peas which are not fattening at all. Make sure you eat Hummus with WHOLE WHEAT bread or pita bread, if so the carbs and the hummus are going to get you fat. Try to eat it twice a week

dont know to be honest, just cos it's a pea doesnt mean it's not going to be fattening, marrow fat peas (the type used in mushy peas) for instance would put on a few pounds if you over indulged. Avocado pears are loaded. So peas beans and veggies can also be bad if eaten to excess. Moderation in everything is ok.

Being that it's crushed chick peas, I don't think it's very fattening - so long as consumed in moderate amounts. If you're concerned, perhaps just eat it once a week as opposed to every day.

If you make it yourself you can control the fat level by using less tahini and olive oil. If you buy it, read the label. Fat content may vary by brand and variety (roasted red pepper vs. garlic). A good point would be to note what you eat the hummus with. A ton of corn chips (very fatty), pita bread (less fatty), whole grain pita (a winner here) or carrot and celery sticks (grand slam good for you).

Its always good to stick to a well balanced diet. It may not be fattening to eat it every day but its not necessarily healthy. I guess it also depends on what you eat it with.

hummous is usually made with olive oil. so depending on quanty you eat, it could be quite high in calories. healthy living versions are available with very little difference in taste.

It's great food but, like everything it should be eaten in moderation as part of a balanced diet. I eat it for breakfast with a wholemeal pitta and fresh vine tomatoes...yum.

Look at the nutritional content on the side of the pack- try to balance your calorie intake for the rest of the day. you could always make your own, and then it can be as low fat as you like.

It does have quite a high calorific value. However it is incredibly nutritious, so you definitely should include it in your diet, just try not to have huge portions & eat it with vegetables as oppossed to bread.
