don't know if that is actually atttributed to the cigarrete or not...I have had that fast a heart rate when I was dehydrated...try drinking a few eight ounce glasses of water, or more...and see if the heart rate slows down a tad...don't mess around though...Dehydration can cause your bp to go up and everything...The smoking might just add to the circulation..which would be slighty impared anyway from the dehydration. Good luck...(maybe time to quit smoking also?)

One cigarette and an elevated heart rate do not a disease state make! I seriously doubt that the nicotine in one could race you like that unless you are hyper sensitive. Nervous anxiety would be my first guess without knowing more about you. Yes, yes, you should quit...that's the big 'DUH' response of the day but I would look elsewhere too. The fluid intake response was a good and responsible answer. An underlying heart rhythm problem could be the culprit. The smoking could certainly aggravate that. You would probably need to share more of your health situation to pin it down. Also, see a doctor. They are not all evil corporate puppets like some want to think.

Hope this helps. Jeff the nurse in Nashville.

Yes, as you should well know smoking is bad for you!@

Every time you take a drag of a cigarette it constricts your blood vessels making your blood flow more difficult. It is also this symptom that causes Heart Attacks.

I hope you quit.
