Yes, if the person has a cold sore (which is caused by a strain of the herpes virus) you can get it from sharing a drink. They hurt but it will go away. It's not an STD if its on the mouth, because it wasnt sexually transmitted. And once you get the Herpes virus, it doesnt leave your body. So if you've already had a cold sore ever, you already have herpes. Viruses never leave the body.
Did you know that by age 10, most people are infected with herpes?

There are two types of herpes simplex virus: HSV-1 and HSV-2. Both virus types can cause sores around the mouth (herpes labialis) and on the genitals (genital herpes). Cold sores are caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV).
Cold sores sometimes called fever blisters, are groups of small blisters on the lip and around the mouth. The skin around the blisters is often red, swollen, and sore. The blisters may break open, leak a clear fluid, and then scab over after a few days. They usually heal in several days to 2 weeks.
The herpes simplex virus usually enters the body through a break in the skin around or inside the mouth. It is usually spread when a person touches a cold sore or touches infected fluid?such as from sharing eating utensils or razors, kissing an infected person, or touching that person's saliva. A parent who has a cold sore often spreads the infection to his or her child in this way. Cold sores can also be spread to other areas of the body.

I wouldn't worry too much about it because as stated before, half the population already has the herpes virus in their bodies. You may see your doctor about it but they won't do much but prescribe a medication to stop the pain of the cold sores, although you can buy some of the medication over the counter. They will only admit you in the hospital if the virus has spread to other organs, but that's not likely unless you have a weak immune system.
Check out the link I left below if you'd like to read more about it.

herpes (hur-peez)
A group of related diseases and the viruses that cause them. These diseases are marked by the development of blisterlike sores on the skin or mucous membranes of the body. The herpes virus may invade the mouth region, producing fever blisters or cold sores, or may cause a sexually transmitted disease in which the painful sores appear on the genitals. Chicken pox is another disease caused by a herpes virus.
# After an infection, the virus remains dormant and may return at a later time. Shingles, for example, is a recurrence of the chicken pox virus, and outbreaks of genital herpes recur over time.

Yes, it may give you herpes of the mouth because this herpes virus (also called herpes simples type 2-HSV2) can affect the mouth (usually herpes simplex type 1-HSV1 affect the mouth & type 2-HSV2 affect the genitals, but type 2 can affect the mouth as well).
did anybody know that???

Yea herpes can be spread though indirect or direct contact with the infectant. You should get yourself checked out a month after the situation happened.
