Do classic cocktails like martini's, cosmo's, belini's, champagne, with finger foods, pigs-in-a-blanket are hot right now, little smokies wrapped in cresent rolls, veggie trays, if it is in your budget do some caviar, shrimp shooters, maybe some sushi.
You can get movie film canisters fairly cheap on line and you can use them to put the food in, just be sure to line them with plastic or foil first. Get some popcorn buckets like they have at the theater, to put your chips and napkins and silverware in. You can even get actual film on some reels and use it in your decor.

You can serve cosmoplotains, Mai Tai's; just by the mix from Stater Bros for like $2.00 and Add rum, it taste really good and Pina Coloda's. You can do a lot of finger foods, like lil sandwhiches, cookies shaped like stars, veggie plate, fruit platters, if you're creative you can even shape a pineapple or watermelon. I don't know how big the budget or your guest list is but you can also roasted chicken breast or london broil steak strips w/ asparagus tips dinner plates.

Go all out! Champagne for the drinks. Pick up a shrimp platter from the store and decorate your own platter to make it your own. Pesto baguette toasts, finger sandwiches, meat and cheese trays, Brie on crackers, carpaccio, maybe even get a big sub from take-out and slice into smaller slices. And toss in a soup dish, like bisque or even chili!
Dine like the stars!

Make regular foods special by naming after movies or celebrities, like Jack Black-ened chicken or Halle straw Berry shortcake.
Make The Mummy wraps with tortillas cut like ribbon. Be creative!

Nachos, all different kinds of popcorn, I would have candy buckets sitting around. If you want some like "real" food then I would keep it simple with just little sandwiches or those little bbq hotdogs. Get creative, it'll be fun! Have a great time

Serve what they serve at the movies. Popcorn, nachos, hot dogs, pretzels and candy. All flavors of soda in either your very best china or go to the party store and purchase the serving containers used at the movies.
