85 Kgs doesn't sound too thin - it depends on how tall you are of course.
It's likely that you need to build muscle mass. Walking, weight lifting, swimming... start with a good all-around routine and build up your strength first.
As your appetite increases, add more protein rich foods like full fat milk, yogurt, cheese and dals to your diet. And don't shy away from wholesome ingredients like coconut and jaggery - they are very good for you, and can be safely added to any healthy regime.
Eggs are also good for you.

High calorie, high carbohydrate high fat foods. Try avocados, almonds, Yogurt, peanut butter ( I know a football coach who tells his players to eat a tablespoon of peanut butter before going to bed and swears this adds 10 pounds to his players!) lift weights to increase your appetite and your bodies demand for fuel. and eat foods that are slow to break down like oatmeal. Try a homemade protein shake and add ice cream, weight gain powder. and be sure and eat a lot of breads and whole grains

As a vegetarian you can eat lots of potatoes, pulses and cheese (if you do eat cheese). These will give you the necessary fat to increase your body weight.
However you also need to do basic routine exercises so that you dont turn obese.

Exercise - lift weights; it's not only for losing weights, but for gaining them too. I was underweight, and am a vegetarian, and took up weights. Very happy with my weight now.

Gain weight from muscle. Muscle weighs more than fat so it will put more pounds on you & make you gain weight in a good looking weigh. So do some weight training and things that will give you bigger muscles.

Try adding a little more "fat" to your diet, Avocados, nuts, Olive Oil in your salad. Even an extra serving of rice or potato. You also might try a Rice Based Protien drink.
