never noticed, but have learned since my husband's surgery that asparagus is one of the foods he's supposed to avoid since the body does not truly digest it, much the same as with whole kernel corn. hubby has a permanent ileostomy so i'm learning more and more about the foods the human body can and can't tolerate and why. never heard or read anything about the urine issue relating to asparagus. i'll be watching the answers since you've intrigued me on this issue. thanks for the points!!

Yes it does have a different smell but I don't think it's iron, it is more like a chemical and the urine is a touch green in color

I don't normally go and smell my urine, but Asparaus has a diuretic effect, so it causes you to release more water. I do not believe that it causes the release of vitamins and minerals, however, if you have enough of it, the extra supplements will "run off."

I'm not sure the odor is iron, but I have that "peculiar" smell after eating asparagus.

I don't go around smelling my own urine. Guess it's a vegan thing and I wouldn't understand. Perhaps the lack of animal protein is working adversely on your thinking process.
