My husband is type 2 and he is only 45 years old and they have him on so many meds for his condition. I am afraid he is going to wind up dying from overmedication like his grandmother did. She was also type 2 and on too many meds and her heart just gave out one day. I feel that the doctor is just dosing him because of the pharmaceutical companies give them a kickback prescribing these drugs. Serious answers only please.

Here's the thing: I have taken cinnamon for years and I only need to take supplements(multi vitamin, garlic(fresh and pill form), flaxseed, B complex, etc.) for my health. Diabetes does run in my family also and I am 50 lbs. overweight. I never believed in prescription meds. I feel there is a holistic approach to this without the risk of overmedicating and contraindications.

And I go for yearly checkups and they find everything in order.

You need to educate your husband and yourself about what each of these drugs are. Diabetes is very serious and attacks so many parts of your system. Do not give up on the meds. His grandmother's heart probably was weak from the diabetes. Talk to the doctor about what each one does and the repurcussions for not taking it. Have him cut down on carboydrates and start excercising (if he doesn't already).

I have tried raw cinnamon powder and hardly found any noticeable change to my blood sugar level. If taking raw cinnamon powder (which is found in most supplements), you’ll need a minimum of a 1-2 teaspoons a day or 2000-4000 mgs. That’s a very high dose to see/feel the benefits. Thus, you would need at least 6-8 pills every day for just this one ingredient.
Then I took a supplement endorsed by Dr Sam Robbins which has several extracts includes cinnamon and some multivitamins and it worked really well.

I am writing to tell you what an incredible impact these methods had on my life! I have had type 2 diabetes for 27 years. For me, the worst part of this horrible disease is the severe pain I constantly get in my feet. The pain is so bad that I avoid standing and walking as much as possible. I've got to tell you that within the first month, my feet stopped hurting altogether and I can now walk totally pain free.
Believe it or not, I even danced at my niece's wedding last month, something I have not done in a many years. I've been following the book for six months now and my blood sugar is well within normal range. I feel great!
I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

Wow!! Does this hit home. My husband (41) and myself (39) were both diagnosed with type 2. His mother and my grandfather were diabetic, so it ran in the family. But my Dr. said mine was "weight triggered" & I was on meds for 5 yrs. I finally lost some weight. I went from 196 pounds to 165 pounds, and my blood sugar levels & labwork are normal without meds now. So he says I'm no longer diabetic.
I've never heard of the cinnamon & honey treatment, but it wouldn't hurt to try it. Keep a close eye on his blood sugar levels tho, since honey is really sweet. If he's overweight, losing weight will help. And our Dr told us to walk at least 30 mins everyday.
The "kickback" theory crossed my mind too, but the glucometer doesn't lie usually. If I forgot to take my med, ate or drank stuff I wasn't supposed to, or over-ate, it always affected my blood sugar. And meds, I was on 3 & my husband 4. He takes Avandament, Glipizide, Altace, & Crestor. I only take Lipitor now.
I told my Dr I didn't like taking so many pills, and he told me he was "trying to prevent a train wreck down the line."
Good luck to you...I know how you feel. If you try the cinnamon & honey, let me know how it goes.

Cinnamon and honey are not a treatment for diabetes, it's a hoax. If you are concerned about over-medicating, talk to your doctor. Some of the drugs may be able to be eliminated. Try loosing weight, as many symptoms of diabetes disappear with weight loss.

Honey? You've got to be kidding. Cinnamon, yes... honey, no. My mother died from the same conditions you describe. I'm determined not to go that way. I don't think docs get kickbacks, but they definitely are oversold on pharms. I've compiled a comprehensive list of things you should know. Under "For men..." is a link to one of my webpages. Go to that page and scroll down to where it says "NEW: WHY BRITS ARE HEALTHIER THAN US". As far as the rest of the stuff, if you want your hubby to live a long and healthy life (and he can if he does as I've done), then I would suggest reading all of this. Email me with any questions... I'm here to help....
For type I and type II diabetics (and those who are overweight and could potentially become diabetic). Copy and bookmark the webpages I‘ve listed below… they are invaluable for those with diabetes and/or weight problems...
I've found a wonderful book that will help you control your diabetes and minimize or even eliminate the complications. Some folks who became diabetic due to poor diet and obesity are effectively cured by following the advice in this book. I'm a type II (inherited), but it helps all types, especially those who became diabetic due to poor eating habits. It's by an author who has really done his homework, Patrick Quillin, Phd. It's called, "The Diabetes Improvement Program". I have tried his suggestions and found them to be very helpful. I have no complications whatsoever and my blood sugar levels are quite stable. Yes, I still have to take Metformin (Glucophage) daily, but it's the minimum dosage (500mg) and I only have to take it twice a day. I have been off Metformin for as much as a week, but this was with vigorous exercise. Many, what I call, non-hereditary type IIs (those that don't have a close relative who had it) have gotten off medication completely, just with diet, exercise, and supplements. So, in some instances, it most certainly can be 'effectively' cured. Read more about it here:
http://www.diabetesimprovement.com/
The book explains what's going on in our system and what to do about it. It's really easy and inexpensive. It's basically diet, supplements, and exercise. For example, did you know that cinnamon helps blood sugar absorption? It also controls cholesterol and triglycerides. This is according to the USDA:

For men: Are you suffering from erectile dysfunction? I was. Yes, WAS. Now that everything's under control, I'm able to have nearly normal sex again. I've also put together a little webpage highlighting some of the things I've learned here:
